THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER AND MODERN CLASSIC FROM MASTER STORYTELLER STEPHEN KING A NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW TOP TEN BOOK OF THE YEAR WINNER OF THE LOS ANGELES TIMES BOOK PRIZE On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King—who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer—takes readers on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it. It begins with Jake Epping, a thirty-five-year-old English teacher in Lisbon Falls, Maine, whose life is upended when his friend Al, who owns the local diner, divulges a secret: his storeroom is a portal to the past, a particular day in 1958. And the dying Al enlists Jake to take over the mission that has become his obsession—to prevent the Kennedy assassination. So begins Jake’s new life as George Amberson, in the world of Ike and JFK and Elvis, of big American cars and sock hops and cigarette smoke everywhere and to the small town of Jodie, Texas, where Jake falls dangerously in love. Every turn leads eventually to a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and to Dallas, where the past becomes heart-stoppingly suspenseful, and where history might not be history anymore. Time-travel has never been so believable. Or so terrifying. Review: must read! - Loved the story. Loved the narrativ Review: Unforgettable - I had been putting off reading 11/22/63 for quite a while, anticipating a dry history lesson about a pivotal moment in time. However, what I read was anything but tedious- it was a captivating piece of storytelling that showcased Stephen King's remarkable talent. The narrative drew me in with its intricate pacing and well-developed characters, transporting me into a fascinating world.

Ambitious if flawed
11-22-63 is an ambitious novel. Tackling the JFK assassination — and all the conspiracy baggage that comes with — and time travel, is a grand undertaking, and King nearly sticks the landing. Some more time on the cutting floor would’ve done this novel some good. King’s characters feel alive. The structure is ambitious. But this book is more of a temporally challenged love story than a high-speed thriller. The narration was good, and King’s prose is simple enough to make this novel a good roadtrip-companion.

I love this book!!
I first bought this book when I saw it in the store, loved it and bought it for my kindle, I have read it many many times, I just love the feeling of the 50's, the tastes and smells, the trustful way of life, the hats on men and hats and gloves on women. This book takes me to this time and place. There were many bad things in those times too and gladly we are more aware now. I watched the mini series on Hulu (not true to the book), and now have the audio book as well. We have come a long way but I just love to go back to the 50's for a little vacation when girls were modest, boys pants covered their underwear and meat had flavor. The story of changing time and stopping the assassination of JFK could have been a much shorter book, but taking us back to live in another time is what makes this book so great. I will read it many more times, listen to it in my car when taking long drives to visit family, and enjoy every minute of my time back in a less complicated and angry time.
