This is a great book to understand the Colorado River especially if you have rafted it. There are great stories of the men and women who have run it. I appreciate the overnight shipping

An interesting collection of stories, most appreciated by people who've been down the canyon on a river trip. Some pieces are great as is, a bunch of others could've used the help of a good editor. Still, the book stands as a simple record of a lot of different perspectives on this amazing natural wonder and what happens within it.

If you ever have been on the river, this book will resonate and return you to that experience.

I have spent most of my working life, almost spanning 3 decades being a river guide. For me, this selection of stories were ones I could relate to. Some inspired me, some made me laugh, and some made me cry.More than a book about running rivers, these are the stories of people who lived, at least for a time, their passion. They are stories of love, humor, comradeship and occasionally loss.I thoroughly recommend this book.

I've been a river guide for years in the west and have enjoyed the Grand Canyon on many private trips. I loved reading all of these guide stories. It's short and sweet non-fiction writing, covering many different places and experiences on the canyon. There are disaster stories and animal stories and funny stories... they're just river guide stories. If you're a guide anywhere, or if you like guide stories, or if you're a Grand Canyon person, this book is certainly worth your time.

What a fun book! Having rafted the Canyon (though not as a boatman or commercially), some of the stories herein ring a bell and bring back fun memories. A good read, with short tales and some nice drawings added. A good addition to any river runner's library

"There's This River..." is a collection of 36 short stories by Boatmen (river guides) who work or worked on the Colorado River taking clients through the Grand Canyon. These are stories about their lives on the river; some funny, some poignant, and some sad. These stories will only really make sense if you have made this trip. In that case, you should enjoy the hell out of them. I recommend it. You might even consider reading it in a sleeping bag under the Grand Canyon stars - hard to beat!

An entertaining suite of stories by the Boatmen of the Grand Canyon - a great read to prepare you for your adventure on the Colorado River, or to reminisce upon your return to civilisation.

I am just not sure that this is the book that was recommended but it is a good read and I am enjoying it.
