A Pair of Salt Under-Arm Deo-Bars

The under-arm bars I received came in a package that says you can use this as salt in food or as an underarm bar. The bar I used was great, but the bar my husband used had a small crack in it similar to what is in the picture. After repeated use, the crack seems to be more pronounced until it became really rough and started scraping the skin. He still have a large portion of the bar left and now it sits in the closet.

Very good alternative to commercial deodorant.The bars I received on the latest order where rectangular with 90 degree edges, and not ground and shaped at pictures on the Amazon site. (They uses to be sole in this ground, sculptured shape.) The instructions say to not use directly on the under arm, because the salt crystals grow on the bar between uses, making for sharp spots on the bars which are abrasive. My solution is dry the bars after use, as instructed, but then before the next use one can use a small sanding block from a hardware store to briefly sand the bar, removing, smoothing the rough crystals prior to use. The bar is then very smooth and can be used without abrasion of the skin. I have been using these for years and I have found them to actually be more effective and longer lasting than commercial chemical deodorants.

So I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this is one where I should have listened and just not tried it. I was trying to get away from the potassium alum salt sticks and decided to give this a try. The potassium sticks manage any BO I may have quite nicely where I found I had an odor within a few hours on the first day I used it. I kept on for a couple of days just in case it was just an adjusting period only to find a second problem, no matter how gently I try to apply this, it leaves scratches on my skin which is then extra uncomfortable because of the salt I just applied there. If it wouldn't have been gross to do so, I totally would return this, but it is what it is.

The salt bars arrived promptly and were as described. Keep in mind that this is a salt product and can get rough bumps on the surface. Before each use as deodorant, I recommend you slide your fingers over the surface to be used to see if it is smooth. If the bar has rough spots, rub them off with your hands or a file before using to avoid getting "stung".

I use these as facial cleansing bars, not deodorant (waaaay too stinggy!) If u do so, DO NOT attempt 2 rub these across ur skin! While they are soap-shaped, they aren't "soap" & won't lather up no matter what--it is salt u know, lol! I rub them across my wet palms then press onto my face. This is a great disinfectant & pH balancer, removing traces of dirt or cleanser, etc. Non-drying as well.I've never purchased fr this brand before but the 2 bars were the best deal I could find on the web! Long-lasting & real pink salt. I recommend if u are a pink salt user like me!

They didn't come all rounded like in the picture. It was literally 2 rectangle bars and all chipped and cracked. Not at all what I expected. Bought for a gift, but tossed them in the trash.. save your money

Himalayan salt crystal bar with no aluminum or alum -- good price. Works well. Use after showering/bathing. I also use a nickel-size "dose" of Milk of Magnesia under each arm at bedtime, and a dab from a dedicated glass jar of Virgin Organic Coconut Oil upon rising. With the Under-Arm Deo-Bar, the MoM, and the VOCO, no need any more for any regular deodorant.
