Will do the job it it designed for
This is a very attractive unit when mounted and does not distract from the work involvment in the hallway where I installed it. Previous time clocking units were bulky and ugly. The function would be helped by displaying something like "you are now clocked in" rather than just blinking when you do a swipe.Software was not too difficult to install but I could not get the software to link to my Quickbooks where the payroll is run. Since I am on a network I have Quickbooks installed on the computer in my office. I installed the time clock by the employee entrance and had to hook it into the network server in the next room. The software will not look across the network for Quickbooks so it would not link up. Could not find a work around and tech support was not helpful [install Quickbooks on the file server]. Not going to happen.After the Christmas Holiday I had to look at the previous three weeks of time punches and I was dismayed to find that I could not look back more than two weeks.Overall I am satisfied.

Great when it works....
Decent product, when it works. I have had this time recorder for a couple of months now and it has been plauged by problems. I decided to get this because some employees weren't being honest with our regular sign in sheet and I need a better way to be on top of who was coming and going. This clock seemed like a good solution at an affordable price. Once it came, it was nothing but headaches. The software that came with the clock wasn't a simple click through install and it required me to contact the manufacturer in help setting it up. After walking me through what I needed to change to get the install properly setup, everything seemed fine for a day or two. During our trial run (didn't want to go straight to this unit without testing first) trying to retrieve punches was a nightmare. Each time I would try to retrieve the punches, I would get an error and no punches were retrieved. This was a huge problem as the unit automatically deletes the punches after trying to retrieve them. How idiotic. If it doesn't retrieve the punches and you get an error, if you attempt to retrieve again, it will show 0 punches on the clock. I put in a call to the CS team and they put me in touch with one of the tech guys who was very helpful, and fully aware of the problem I was having. He tried walking me through a few things to remedy the issue which took around 45 minutes to complete. All easy enough to do as I have A+ computer certifications and I am competent with my computer and the systems our company runs. After all of this, we did a test swipe and then test retrieval and the errors persisted. At this point the tech said that he would call back tomorrow and he would remote into the system to see if he could tweak a few extra hidden settings (that he wouldn't disclose to me over the phone). Fair enough. He called when he said he would and remote controlled the system and tweaked the settings and we did the test swipes and retrieval again. Everything went off without a hitch. But computers are computers and every so often the error #17 no punches retrieved and deletion of stored punches problem reared it's head again. It doesn't happen very often anymore, but it makes me apprehensive in relying on the system to do its job. I am never 100% sure that all the punches will be retrieved instead of deleted.This has forced me to download punches every single day, in the AM and again after everyone punches out. This unit was supposed to give me peace of mind and take a lot of the effort out of time tracking. It doesn't really do either.Currently I am getting ready to leave for the long weekend we are swamped trying to get everything completed before we leave and I didn't have time to grab last nights punches and I just went to retrieve this mornings punches and the error popped up and deleted todays and yesterdays punches. 64 punches gone with no way to bring them back. I'm putting in an email and call to tech support right now to see what can be done to make sure the recorder doesn't delete the punches after giving an error. This will be my 4th inquiry regarding this. Doesn't seem like it should be that hard to do, but pyramid has been unable to answer my question or fix the problem. The one saving grace is that the manufacturer of this unit is located in my state and if I can't get help over the phone/interent this time I will be making a trip to them directly to address my issues.

Works great.
We were looking for something to replace our old manual time clock and came upon this one. It was actually cheaper than the old time clock. Set up was really easy (Installation disk walks you through setting up the software). Since we use Quickbooks the software imported all the active employees and their information for me all I had to do was assign a time card to each of them. On payday it takes me less than 15 minutes to download all employee punches, approve their time, export their hours to Quickbooks, and create the paychecks.Only one issue we had with this clock was the first week of using it we started getting a error saying the time clock could not be found. Turns out the Serial to USB adapter had gone bad (a quick search online showed a lot of people having problems with Prolific adapters). Called Pyramid, forwarded them a copy of my amazon.com invoice, and I had a new adapter with 2 days. The new adapter fixed my problems. We decided for our own piece of mind, however, to spend an extra $20 and buy a better adapter here on Amazon.10/1/14: We have been using this time clock for 2 years now. Still loving it! It is easy to add employees (or release them), verify punches, and make adjustments if needed! Also with remote access to my PC I can do payroll from home if I need to!

Pretty good, once you can figure out how to use it
I work in the tech support division of a small company and we bought this to replace our old analog time clock. At first I was ready to send this back to the seller because of the software that comes with it. After about 3 days, I finally figured out how to use it and what some of the software options meant, but it really seemed like it should be easier. Also, the software that comes with it to interface with the time clock is pretty awful. I only use it to read the swipes(or "punches" as the software calls it) from the clock and then interface with Quickbooks. At first it will ask you to match some unchangeable option in the software with Quickbooks' payroll categories, but it doesn't really matter if you do as it will export fine with the default Quickbooks categories. Would be really nice if this could directly interface with Quickbooks or whatever other accounting software instead of just adding a payment time for "Timetrax".

Does the job
Work fine so far - only had it for a month or so.I like that you don't have to even set the time and date - it grabs the info from the computer it's hooked to.I bought this thinking it was ethernet... it is not. So I had to run another cable.The software is pretty easy... there's a few features I wish the system had though... 1) I'd like it if it would display the employee name instead of just the card number when you swipe a card 2) I wish there were default punch in / punch out times in the event of a missed punch. I've only been able to find a default for lunchtime.

I bought this unit from amazon 5 years ago. I moved it over to a new computer because times are always changing and we are forced to upgrade our computers. the software doesn't work on windows 10. so I called pyramid to trouble shoot and guy tells me too bad so sad. pay me the cost of the unit for our new upgraded software or your stuck with a useless piece of equipment. MIND BLOWN! I'm appalled at this company. I will never ever use them again. such a rip off. every other software company in the world allows you do update your software and then activate it somehow. NOPE NOT THEM! GARBAGE!! DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

Not worth to buy it
Did not get help from the customer service center just because of that I have to send it back. Even software is quite typical to operate.

this machine is not good. it errors out every pay cycle, I doesn't allow me to download punches. And when there is a error it won't tell me what the error is. I've spent more time on the support line with this thing
