Gearmo USB 3.0 Driverless Data Transfer Cable for Windows 11/10 / 8/7

Once you plug it in, the little USB icon appears and prompts you to install the driver and execute the program embedded within the cable. The program will then sit in the tray and you can select it to change settings like where your computers are positioned (left vs right side). Once that is set up, the two computer displays form an extended desktop where you drag and drop from one side to the other. Super intuitive and works in the predictable way most people want it to work.

Great product, easy, just plug in and transfer files quickly. Highly recommend! The only issues to watch out for: it will stop if a file name is weird/too long. You have to find the file and rename it, then continue. Also, the instructions that came with it are not helpful --the only way we figured out how to use it was that we read an online review where someone else explains it very well.

If you want to quickly link up 2 PC's for the purpose of transferring files this is by far the best option available. With USB 3.0 the transfer is fast and is bi-directional which basically means files can be sent or received. Built in software installs when cable is plugged in, I would like to note that my antivirus software initially prevented the software from installing. After reporting it as a false positive within the antivirus software the program autoinstalled and opened just as intended. Have had no problems using the cable. My operating system iv used the cable with is Windows 10 to windows 10.

I am using this to connect my work PC with my home PC. This allows me to share my keyboard and mouse. It also supports some level of cut-and-paste. So, I can "Cut" from one PC, move the mouse to the other PC and paste.One downside is connection reliability. This could easily be the fault of my PCs. But the connection "breaks", so the mouse maybe gets frozen or only works on one screen or the other. I need to unplug and replug this into my PCs to get it going again. It provides great functionality but I need to do that replug trick maybe 4 times per day. UPDATE: I randomly changed things up. My mouse dongle is typically connected to computer "A" and the cable is unreliable. I moved the dongle to the other computer. Now, everything works flawlessly. So I strongly recommend that you try this cable. If it gives you trouble just return it.There are two green flashing LEDs which are really annoying and don't seem to have a purpose (like showing data being transferred or something.I also wish the firmware was upgradable. This could be a great product with better software.I will likely investigate some WiFi option to see if that is more reliable.Still, I gave it a high review. If you have nothing, they are much better than that ;), but still could use a lot of improvement.

Pretty cool device but it has some glitches. Holding down the middle mouse button on the non host pc causes it to mess up and freeze up. Sometimes the roll of the screen option will not work when the connection is good. I would say it's best for clerical work or anything else than a CAD user.Still needs some improvement.

was initially perfect for my needs, between my Win7 desktop and Win10 laptop, for controlling both computers with the same mouse and keyboard, and transferring files easily between themthen all of a sudden (with no hardware or software changes to either computer - not even a change of USB3 ports), my Win7 desktop started showed the (x) indicating "- the other computer is disconnected", while my Win10 laptop showed that "- the other computer is connected"The mouse and keyboard are still able to share, but it can no longer copy files between them or copy clipboard - both functions i needi called Gearmo but they are clueless about this product that they are simply a reseller of and have virtually no technical knowledge ofi tried rebooting both computers with the usb cable unplugged, and then plugged them back in after restart - i tried removing the smart data link software and then reinstalling it on both computers, but with no successi will be buying another one and returning this one just to see if a new cable will work - if it does, i might consider upping my review to 3 starsbut there should really be some tech support access (Gearmo or otherwise) to be able to service this otherwise great idea

We had never been able to network our computers together since one of the two of us moved to Win 10. Even when both of us were using Win 10, the computers would not connect. We tried everything we could find on the Internet, and the best we could do was make it so one computer could see the other, but not visa versa. And even that did not always work.This cable works perfectly. We can't leave it attached all of the time because it allows one of us to control the other one's mouse and that leads to some interesting effects. But it is easily connected through USB extension wires and not only can one of us move the files desired but they can go in the correct place without having to go through Public on the way.Also, we don't have to have an Internet connection. It always annoyed me that we had to send our files out to the Internet and back, when we sit side-by-side. NetBIOS was much more private, but that went the way of the dodo.
