RA's Farm Fresh Grow at Home Shiitake Log

The log was bursting when we got it and was producing by the next day.4 days later I harvested some and added it to homemade chicken soup. Mmm...mmmm...umami.I noticed after the 1st day the log needed more humidity for optimal production so I placed the log on a cookie rack with a plant dome on it. I realized the best way to grow them would be to buy a plastic bin, place the log and rack on the lid and put the upside down bin on top. Placing a lid/bin on it helps to contain the smell of the log. It is a mushroom log after all.

I must have read the directions incorrectly.I thought these were dormant until sprayed with water. They arrived two days before Christmas and we left the day after to visit family three days later. When we got home we opened the box to find flat mushrooms trying to get out of the wrapper! We unwrapped the log and started spraying them per the instructions, but the first growth had many deformed and stunted mushrooms. We have not harvested a second batch yet. Just a warning that you need to open this when it arrives for best results.

We got the log, it already had mushrooms growing on it. We haven't had any growth at all in 2 weeks and not the log is getting moldy. How do we get our money back ?! Or get a fresh log to try again??!!

Such a value. This is a large log. A lot of substrate here. Wouldn't fit in the 10 gal aquarium I intended so that is a 20 gal. Mushroom pins were visible under a thin skin upon opening the box. Mushrooms started popping up everywhere doubling in size daily, at least in first week.I was waiting until later to write a review, after eating some. But first week impression is great. I may buy again if it produces as much as it appears it shall.

The mushrooms taste great but it was fruiting when it arrived. So the first flush was wasted and the second flush was pretty weak. There was no third flush

Interesting to grow. They started in a couple of days. Produced about one half pound of reasonably tasty mushrooms. Required daily attention. Poor return on investment. You should really enjoy watching mushrooms grow if you plan to buy.

There were a few mushrooms growing and squished under the plastic so they are a shaped a little funny, but a very healthy log. the moment I removed them the plastic, watered it and lightly covered it in plastic the log flourished! Took about a week to get a full log of mushrooms. Humidity was key!

have to water a tiny amount 3 times a day then after mushrooms appear, it's over in 6 weeks....i have 1 mushroom after 3 weeks...not looking like worth the money or the time watering the darn thing
