A classic grill that still does a great job
There is a reason George Foreman grills have remained popular for so long. I bought two of these so meat and non-meat foods could be cooked separately, and both have worked very well. We have cooked everything from mushrooms to pork chops on them, with consistently good results. They heat up quickly, cook food evenly and are straightforward to use. A surprising amount of fat also drains into the drip tray when cooking meat, rather than being left around the food. They are easy enough to clean after use and practical for quick meals without turning on the full oven. A reliable and versatile kitchen appliance that gets used regularly.

Great buy
This works so well and is easy to clean, makes grilled dishes in a flash and makes cooking no faff, plus no need for lots ( or any) oil. Doesnโt take up too much space on kitchen counter as can store on its side as well.

Easy, healthy and convenient
What a great little machine. Bought as replacement for an old Tefal Optigrill which had finally given up the ghost. Had the George for about a fortnight now and love it , it's so much easier than the Tefal.......just pre heat and cook. Already tried burgers, half a side of salmon, bacon and tonight we've had teriyaki style chicken. Everything's turned out really nice, juicy and tasty. This medium sized grill is perfect for the two of us. Floating hinge means easy to cook different thicknesses and nice bar marks on the food too. The only negative compared to the Tefal is that the grill plates are fixed, but I have found the best way to clean them is to use the soft sponge side of a dishwasher pad (damp) followed by dry kitchen towel.....no problems at all. Stores on its side, nice and compact on the kitchen worktop. Also saves money by not having to preheat and use the grill on our full size cooker. Bought at a great price too (half price). Excellent piece of kit, definitely recommend.

Very efficient and easy to clean
Nice size and easy to clean. Great during this hot weather because it has instant heat and cooks most things quickly, so then it can be turned completely off, saving having extra heat in the kitchen.

Excellent buy
Have never had any other kind of grill before but since my eye condition has worsened i thought id give this a try The grill arrived next day as promised and was very carefully wrapped It comes with a tray that fits underneath to catch the fat and an extensive information book on how to cook different things For my first meal my daughter and i decided on a classic cheese burger We plugged the grill in and waited for the sensor to turn green Placed our frozen burgers in and set a timer for 7mins The results were absolutely gorgeous The burger turned out perfectly grilled on both sides and all the fat had drained off leaving a very tasty burger Cleaning was a doddle by just using a damp cloth to wipe any residue The tray with the fat was drained away and washed in a bit of warm water then dried and wrapped in some kitchen roll till next time This is a lovely gadget to add to your kitchen and i cant wait to use it again Next time maybe a panini or toasted sarnie ...yummy

Heat just right. Good size. Easy clean.
It gets hot quickly and stays on until you turn it off. There's no "time out" or heat control - keep it simple! It's a griddle more than a grill. I've only done cheese & ham toasties so far but it (medium) is large enough to cook even the largest steak, mushrooms, onions all at once. The "dislocated" lid is really handy. It will lay flat on the top of the thing you are cooking, regardless of how thick the thing is. Both sides get equal heat compared to a simple jaw type grill. If doing a single toastie then put it in the middle - if you put it left or right the dislocated lid will tilt and press against the hot base. Maybe not an issue but I'd rather the two hot plates didn't touch each other. Easy to clean. I let it cool before cleaning and the melted cheese came off easily. The only thing to grumble about (and it's a tiny grumble) are those small bumps running across the front of the base. They prevent me simply sliding my toastie out into my hand. I need to lift it out with a plastic spatula. I tried fingers and it's just not worth the "ouch" because those plates are hot! Those bumps might prevent food sliding out though if you use the rear foot to tilt the thing up, for draining juices into the drip tray. The heat is spot on. Not so hot that it frazzles the outside before the inside is cooked. I haven't timed my toastie but it's not much different from my Breville "Classique" toastie maker. That was a pain to clean - too many narrow gulleys for food detritus to end up in. This George Foreman is far easier to clean. Easy snack, easy maintenance. I remember my parents making cheese toasties in the oven. Took 15 minutes to heat up, had to flip the bread to cook both sides, then remove, add cheese, put back into oven. Lord knows how much time and electricity that consumed for such a simple pleasure. The manual has a whole bunch of cooking time suggestions for different things. This thing can't do chips, but heck steak on this and microwaved baby potatoes and my big old inefficient oven will be a redundant dinosaur! You can't sustain a family of 6 on this, but for a couple or us singles it really does make for efficient convenient cooking.

Griddle plates can't be removed
I bought this to replace my 30 year old George Foreman Grill of the same size. Though the old one was still ok and I still used it regularly, especially in summer, the style was rather out-dated for my new kitchen, it took up quite a bit of space on the worktop and the top and bottom griddle plates were beginning to brown at different rates. This new one is much sleeker and it's fantastic that it can be stood on its side to take up a tiny amount of space when not in use. Where I think it is missing a trick, and therefore 4 stars and not 5, is that the griddle plates can't be removed for washing like the old one. These plates have to be wiped clean and I think I have yet to find the best time to do this. So far, I have wiped it when completely cold and any left over marinade has hardened up. This means using extra water to clean it with which runs onto the worktop so that has to be cleaned up as well. Maybe it is easier to clean when still warm and not so stuck on? One other annoying thing is the top griddle plate not only has the long grooves, as normal, it also has "GEORGE FOREMAN" embossed right across half of it which is a real pain to clean out. To do the first wipe clean, I used paper towels rather than a cloth to remove burnt marinade, and bits of paper towel got left in the letters which took quite a while to get rid of. After 30 years of using them, I think George Foreman grills are a must-have in the kitchen but, like everything, it isn't perfect for cooking absolutely everything. I don't know if I am imagining it, but the top plate seems heavier as it did seem to squash the chicken kebabs more than my old one would have done. Bigger pieces of meat or veg would be better to cook with on this.
