Amazon Basics Stainless Steel Rectangular Dustbin with Hands-Free Motion Sensor, 50 l, Silver

Our Morphy Richards sensor bin had packed in for the 2nd time with different faults. The price to replace a part out of warranty was half the price of this bin and around 2/3 of the price for a complete new bin.This bin has huge benefits over our previous bin. Simple benefits but huge in practical use!1: We use 50l bin bags, in our previous bin it felt like emptying it was a chore at times, it was slimmer, but it felt like you were pulling the bag from left to right with a upwards force, almost like wrestling to get a tin of spam out of its metal shell. (If you know, you know). With this bin however, the bags simply lift out due to how wide and much more rounded the bags fit in. The bin bag can contain more waste and it still can be removed with ease. 👍2:) The sensor: One little feature which is much better is that you can activate the motion sensor for the bin lid to lift (obviously) but unlike our prior bin, this bin sense when your emptying rubbish in the bin, so will only close once it knows you have walked away and are no longer in range of the sensor.If for whatever reason you feel like it isn’t closing quick enough, or you are quickly trying to dispose of say the contents of your bag less hoover and don’t want dust flying out there is 2x buttons 1 for open and 1 for close. So instead of simply waiting for the sensor to finish sensing simply press button and close it earlier.3: Price - This is truly excellent value for money and it comes with the mini bin which you could use for anything really, recycling, bathroom, or whatever you could potentially use it for. The price of this was cheaper than buying a full replacement bin from morphy richards and 2/3 of the price of a replacement part. The fact you get a bigger bin with more features is a huge plus, getting the 2nd mini bin is a bigger bonus.4: Design - it’s a bin! It looks clean with the stainless steel finish and it doesn’t feel like a cheap budget look. I am more than happy with the design and look.5: - Warranty As it’s a amazon product the warranty comes through Amazon who for their own products tend to always offer good warranty and customer service.6: Power switch: Yes it has a power on/off switch as you would expect, huge benefit however is it’s placement, which is on the reverse of the bin, unlike my previous bin which was placed on the underside of its holder which was inside of the bin. For reasons such as cleaning or removing the bin bag I tend to turn the switch off whilst removing the bag. The placement of the switch just makes things a bit convenient compared to our last one.Negatives: -1: The batteries it uses are I believe as I’m writing this is either C, or D batteries, these tend to be more expensive than other batteries which is nit picking at best, getting rechargeable batteries which are reliable might be a better option long term depending on how long they last before needing to be replaced.Apart from the batteries, the only thing I would say is partially a negative would be the power switch, this is the only component I can say feels cheap, but this is extreme nit picking from me.Hope this review helps!RegardsChris ✌️❤️

The quality is really good and the colour is quite attractive. The lid works very well and it makes things so much easier! I also like the fact that you can tuck in the bin liner once in place so you don't see the top of bin liners hanging outside. Very neat. It even comes with batteries.The only small issue for me is that I bought this bin to go in a tight space between a wall and my vanity unit. The size is a perfect fit but the wall or the vanity unit seem to confuse the sensor on the lid. As the signal keeps getting bounced back, the lid keeps thinking your hand is still there so the lid stays open. I had to move it to a more open space and it works fine.Overall a very nice product at a good price.

Lovely massive bin buts it doing my head in 🤯🤦🏻‍♀️- huge capacity which is great I bought it to replace a 30L broken Brabantia so I’m super impressed it’s double the capacity and especially Iove the rectangle shape - the lid is slightly flimsy compared to what been used to so we’ll see how that lasts - but I suppose it’s just the position of where I’ve place the bin in the kitchen in a area that gets a lot of traffic - kids , dogs etc but every-time we go anywhere near it it opens & scares the life out of the dogs 🤣 ! There’s a lot of ffffffsaaaakinnnng going on in our house we’ve switched it off for a while to give us and the batteries a rest !!But I do love the massive size so it’s a thumbs up ! 👍🏻

THis is great. The stainless steel looks really nice and doesn’t really show fingerprints or smudges, so it always looks clean. The motion sensor lid is super handy, especially when your hands are full, and it keeps things hygienic. It waits long enough after opening. It’s surprisingly lightweight and fits well in my kitchen. For the price, it’s a really good deal and has made using a bin much easier.

While it worked, this was a good product.However, after 37 days the proximity sensor failed, so the lid no longer opens or closes automatically. The lid is awkward to use manually, so it is just left open now.The failure was 7 days outside the 30 day return window, and there is no option to return the product outside this window.A useless item, with no sales backup. Not recommended.

This bin arrived on the allocated date. It was very well packaged and pristine upon unboxing. Amazon provided two of their own brand batteries, which is a nice touch and very helpful as they are the big batteries which I don’t keep in my “man drawer” routinely.Everything is working perfectly after 4 days of daily usage opening and closing by sensor upwards of 20 times a day.Initially the lid opened a little shakily and I wondered if the mechanism was OK, but I’ve got used to how it works now and make sure I pass my hand completely over the sensor when using it.Only time will tell how robust and long-lasting it will prove to be. As a guide my last sensor bin (also made in China) lasted 6 years of constant use in the kitchen. I am very pleased with it thus far.

We needed a narrow bin for a small space in the kitchen and this was perfect. It's tall and fits in very well with a big capacity. You can put the bin bag over the top of the it, add the removable rim and lid and it keeps it secure. The motion sensor lid took a bit of getting used to but it's great. It works well and means no sticky finger prints on the bin. It didn't come dented - it was in perfect condition and looks very good. I just think it's a little pricey.

I love having a sensor trash can. I use these all over the house, but especially in the kitchen where I don't want touch a lid or even need to step on a pedal, needing to pause before tossing something into the trash. My old one died after 8/10 years of faithful use. I waited until a sale and jumped on this. This works great. Very smooth. I always use a much larger bag than listed, so I can easily empty when "stuffed" (and I DO) without hassle or touching anything I've discarded. That's just my personal choice. I wouldn't hesitate purchasing this again.

I found this can on Amazon after originally purchasing one from Overstock.com 12 years ago!! The original was durable, attractive and later 12 years. That means the mechanics of this can are really well made to last that many years. This replacement is just a little different from the original but makes no difference at all. The original was a little taller and a little more narrow. This newer version is shorter but slightly wider. I love this touchless can! It uses a 13 gallon sized kitchen bag. The bags are able to be filled full and are not hard to pull out when needing to be changed.
