IF YOU DON'T READ ANY OTHER REVIEW READ MINE!
THE 5 STAR RATING IS FOR THE REAL LIFEPROOF CASE,The case I received was a counterfeit. I ordered the case on Amazon FROM "Sold by: Neverlate Sales ( seller profile** )" Having a previous case from lifeproof I quickly assumed the case was counterfeit from the appearance. (Check my photo uploads for notes on how to spot a fake). I CONFIRMED my suspicions by calling LifeProof and speaking with Customer Service. TOP KNOTCH support. They had me read them the "bar code" inside of the actual case and it popped up on their counterfeit list. Now I know by providing so much detail it will allow the counterfeiters to produce better clones, however I want to be as detailed as possible to help my fellow consumers. I also hate to see all the neg reviews against "Lifeproof" I have had one of their ACTUAL cases for close to a year and have used it daily. It has held up to everything I have thrown at it from actually throwing the phone, from dropping the phone from a second story height at Cabela's to the hard tile floor below TWICE, to going on an all day kayaking trip with the phone in the water for the better part of 9 hours. The old case held up great and the only damage to it is from me putting it in and out of my pocket an above average amount of times, the upper right hand corner rubber started to peel off and lifeproof started the claims process when I called them about the fake case. I also ordered a new case directly from them at the same time. Back to the counterfeit case, the case and the box are already decent clones, the box even has the raised details of the REAL box. I have photos posted comparing the boxes as well. I also contacted Amazon after I discovered it was a counterfeit case and they promptly issued a return label and stated I will be receiving a full refund. Their legal department is also looking into the matter.I hope that my review of the case I got AS WELL as my review for my REAL lifeproof case will help anyone protect their phones from water damage. I would not trust the fake case to be waterproof as the screens are different over the speakers on the bottom as well as differences in the mold.Below is a link to the sellers profile as of writing this review (1-25-12). I would STRONGLY suggest staying away from anything this seller is selling as it may very well be fake.**Link to sellers profile: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aag/main?ie=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=1&isCBA=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&orderID=106-0944562-0020263&seller=A1HJFRPHMVVMHD"

Two reviews, same result/rating
**Update** tried the Seidio waterproof case- didn't like the 2 part port gasket fight each time you want to plug in cable.Settled on the new Incipio Atlas... best of both worlds- waterproof easy to access ports.I am reviewing the Lifeproof fairly. Having used one for 7 months. There are TWO reviews, one of the case as I've experienced, and the other as the 2 broken/missing parts as purchased here through Trend Marketing via Amazon market price. The result is the same. Pictures will be above.Review 1: Lifeproof purchased for full retail $80.Bottom line, for $80, I expect such a product to last a year. I had the rear door break twice (once in the first week and the store swapped it w/out hassle). The second broke about 6.5 months after I bought it. I tried to save money by buying a replacement back, but then discovered the hatch on the front had a crack, so I had no water proofing, regardless of whether the door was in 1 piece or not. Also, it chagrins me (can you be chagrined?), that you get 1 headphone adapter and 1 spare headphone bung plug in the box. These are designed to be inconvenient/lost and Lifeproof wallops your wallet to get more. For $80, I figured they'd take the high road and send 2 of each in the box... no, guess there isn't enough profit in an $80 case. I LOVE the fit and finish of this case when it's not broken or you don't have the silly headphone adapter on it. It's thin, feels drop-resistant, and the screen cover works better than the iphone w/out it! I hate the headphone adapter requirement. You must unscrew the bung cover, then screw in the 6 inch long adapter to use any headphone. Before anyone who doesn't know what they are talking about says the adapter is required to have the headphones on and be waterproof- hear me out: If the bung was just 1mm bigger, most headphones could be used w/out the adapter AND if you wanted to be waterproof, THEN you use the adapter. In other words, you don't always need a waterproof case, but the design requires you to use the parts even when not in wet situations. Just 1mm bigger and 90% of headphones would work the times you are in a dry environment. Yes, I use bluetooth, but that's a pain in the butt when listening in bed.Review 2: Lifeproof purchased from Amazon/Market Trends. I always figured $80 was a significant mark-up, so when I found the Lifeproof on Amazon for cheaper, I figured I'd get closer to what I paid for. The 2nd door had just broken on my case in 6 months, time for a replacement (yes, even though it's 2 stars, I felt for less money it was the best case for me). The case arrived and when I did the suggested test, it leaked. I found broken seating clips along the edges. Back in the mail for a refund, order another. The second case arrived today and it not only had a broken lens cover, the bung cover and headphone adapter I'm REQUIRED to use, were missing. Even though the first case broke 3 times in 7 months (2 doors, 1 hatch), I don't think TWO should be broken coming out of the box. I believe those that say this is a knock off or otherwise is fishy are correct. You should at least get 2 months of use out of your EIGHTY DOLLAR case. So, if you buy the full retail at a store or discount on amazon, I suspect you want be satisfied... unless you don't ever use wired headphones nor never get in a wet situation (dry it works fine with bluetooth and the great screen cover.

Tried it, didn't like it, returned for refund
I wasn't going to write a review, but seeing as Amazon asked...... I have had a Lifeproof case for 2 years, they are great but after 2 years they start to look a bit worn and shabby. No matter, my iphone after 2 years looked immaculate when I took it out of the case. I bought this red Lifeproof case as a replacement. The sound quality (particularly how my voice sounded to another caller) was terrible. I knew to expect some change of sound but like I said I have used a Lifeproof case for 2 years and this new case was 'bad'.So I investigated Youtube and learned 2 things. Firstly bad sound quality can be caused by the gortex membrane sitting too tightly against the microphone vents. Solution is to blow on the vents. Much puffing later - no difference. Secondly the market has been flooded by fake Lifeproof cases. Now when I received the red case my first thought was that the plastic felt different, somehow 'harder'. My Iphone 4S didn't fit so well into the case and I had to press the buttons very hard to get them to work. Then the sound quality was poor. There are videos on Youtube explaining how to spot a fake. Apparently there are subtle differences on the box. I don't know for sure if this was a fake/imitation, but my box did match the YouTube videos description of a fake......but can we trust what we watch on YouTube?Bottom line - genuine or not it didn't work as well as my old Lifeproof case so I returned it for a refund.

Discussion of functionality in water.
I like this case. Out of all the 'tough' cases for the iPhone this seems to be the slimmest and doesn't make your phone look like something an 8yo boy or someone who collects BB guns wears on their belt. However, one of the big negatives of the case is how it operates in water. Lots of people have clearly listed the general pros and cons so I though I'd share my experiences with water.First big drawback is that it's only waterproof up to 2m. If you're just looking for something to protect your phone if you drop it in the toilet or to listen to music when you're swimming in a pool it's great. But if you want to use it to take video under water you'd be surprised how shallow 2m is in practice. I tried to use it in the sea snorkeling and although I tried to keep it at 2m it was tough and the pressure ended up getting water the inside of the case. I managed to dry it out but it now glitches from time to time. LifeProof do say this, but I think it's worth pointing out.The second even bigger drawback is you can't actually use the touch screen function under water... Or even that easily once you and the phone are wet. This means you can only use the video function by turning it on above water and then taking it below. I was in the sea, so I can't comment about warm pools, but I would expect the same.So in summary, it's a good (albeit very expensive) protective waterproof case with some downsides, but if you want it for the water it's probably best to have some sort of water-specific device.

Lifeproof for iPhone
I had mine for a reasonable period now. Initially it was wonderful - I did drop my iPhone a couple of times and it kept it protected. I was unconcerned about moisture whilst it was thus protected. However, after a few months it started to come apart. First off the rubber around the view screen started to peel away. This rapidly spread until the screen 'frame' was completely gone. I then noted that the rubber covers to the buttons were also peeling off.So, a great product but without the required longevity. This particular model (my second) only lasted three weeks before falling apart. This was my second Lifeproof cover and I shall not be buying a third Note that my second cover was bought from a different supplier at a much lower cost than my orange coloured original but lasted only three weeks.

Life Proof - Very Good Protection but Callers are unable to hear me!
I actually love this case as it is such good protection for my new iphone.Unfortunately, to my very great regret, I had to stop using it after just a couple of days because:When callers phone me I can hear them perfectly BUT they cannot hear me at all!!!Unortunately, this makes the case useless if I want to use the phone for making or receiving calls. It also greatly upsets callers.I think this is a Lifeproof design fault with many of their cases as a Google search reveals a lot of similar complaints. However, it seems not ALL Lifeproof cases have the fault because some people do not experience this problem.I will wait a while and then, perhaps, try buying another one of their cases. Perhaps the next one will not have this fault.

Excellent for the adventurer
I bought this for my iphone as I had invested in the viewranger mapping app and wanted to ensure my phone would be protected on a mountain walk.Cue Ben Nevis! It tested the product to the limit, rain, mist the odd drop too.Key for me it enables the phone to be used as intended, yes doesn't allow the beauty of the phone to shine out, but this is a small price to pay for being able to use it anywhere.Important: follow the instructions carefully. The Website has some really useful videos. Then register it. I had a 'seal' issue with my first case and it was replaced no quibble. The seal still worked, but the fit was not as good as it could have been and did not click into place. The replacement was perfect!
