with great sound quality
I really wanted a compact looper pedal, so I decided to buy one that was really to use, with great sound quality, good looping time, and good construction (and was below 200 bucks). So I started reading reviews, seeing videos in YouTube, checking specs, etc. After evaluating a lot of choices, ranging from Boss RC-3 to Wally Looper (Ditto, Vox, etc.), I decided to go with Digitech's Jamman Solo XT for looping time (35 min + SD card slot, up to 32 hrs of looping), construction, accesories (power supply is included), and overall price. For 150 bucks, shipping included, it was a bargain. When I started using it, I was amazed how easy was to make loops, overdubs and storing all you've just done. After messing around with it for a couple of hours, I sat to read the manual, and learned to use all other features this pedal has to offer. Some of the instructions are really brief, so you have either to deduce the rest by yourself or check on the internet to figure out everything. JamManager software is just good, nothing fancy, used mainly to manage loops in pedal, and store-transfer between pedal and computer. For all the features it offers, price, easy to use, price-quality is really one of the best looper pedals in the market.

I prerecord 'Band in a Box' loops from my laptop and it works great. The 32GB Micro SD expansion gives as much ...
Very versatile pedal. It does have a moderate learning curve and needs thoughtful setup if you want to use it live. But that's true with most hi-tech gear. It is powered exclusively by a wall adapter (9V 2.0A wall wart) so keep that in mind if you need to perform on battery power only (beach, parks, etc). I prerecord 'Band in a Box' loops from my laptop and it works great. The 32GB Micro SD expansion gives as much time as you need. The rhythm feature is very functional but rather limited - great for practice though. I downloaded several great drum tracks from a few websites and stored them in a section I reserved for percussion. May not be a drum machine but it sounds great and native tempos can be significantly tweaked. My unit did not work properly at first (squealing sounds) until I did a one-time master reset and I've had no problem since. So make sure you back up all your loops in case you need to do a reset. Judging by the size of the ferrite core on the power cord, RFI might be a problem. So, I always disconnect the power cord from the pedal when not in use.

Pretty Good Unit, But Not For Me
Overall, the unit works pretty good. The first 15 slots have pre-recorded drum beats/loops (which is cool) and you can literally save infinite loops and single phrases. The software isn't so good and I couldn't get my computer to recognize the unit (the support line was unable to help). I ended up returning the unit because it didn't completely meet my needs. I use the effects on my amp and when using the Digitech drum loops (or a created guitar loop) the loops come through the amp with the effect that I'm using (e.g., if I'm using distortion or reverb the drums come through distorted or with reverb, which sounds really REALLY bad). I like using my amp's effects and was not interested in buying a bunch of new pedals. Wanting to have some kind of drum beat and looping option, I ended up getting a Zoom G1on and this thing is pretty awesome. It has over 60 drum beats (which are much better than the Digitech's), and it has a 30 second looper (which is more than enough for my needs). In sum, if you are an experienced player with multiple pedals I'd go with the Digitech. If you are mainly a stay at home, play for fun picker than go with the G1 (it's only $50, has a looper, has 60+ drum beats, 100+ sound effects--which are all modifiable, and you don't have to buy a bunch of pedals).

Digitech Jamman Solo XT- A Musician's Best Friend!
I agonized over what looper to go with. Finally concluded this was the one to try. The price is reasonable as loopers go and, more importantly, multiple units can be linked to function together. I suggest keeping the instructions nearby. Most electronics are fun to learn by doing. This is no exception. Except for a few things. You need to know how to start and stop a recording, how to overdub, and set a drum beat at the rate you want--this is one owner's manual worth spending a bit of time with.Once you have the basics down, you must decide if one is enough, or if you'll be accumulating multiple units. If you want to chain them, you'll need to supply a cable to link them, I went with "Monoprice 109296 3-Feet Stereo Male to 3.5mm Stereo Male Gold Plated Cable for Mobile, White." Linking two requires either a couple of cables each (it's a stereo unit) or I went with two of "On Stage PC304 Pedal To Pedal Coupler." Since I wanted minimal limits to my looping play-time, I got each one a "SanDisk Ultra 16GB UHI-I/Class 10 Micro SDHC Memory Card Up To 48MB/s With Adapter- SDSDQUAN-016G-G4A." There is also a Digitech footswitch that can be added. For me its most important function is providing a quick way to stop the loop--a single push provides an instant end to the loop.I was lazy and plugged my Jammans into a power brick. Although it sounded good, there was a slight howling sound that would sometimes rise in the background. When I replaced the brick with the power supply included with the unit, the sound was perfect--no background weirdness.Loopers are a great way to practice various aspects of music without the pressure of a full multi-track recording. Play some guitar, add some bass, maybe a keyboard, and then enjoy playing some lead guitar as the loop cycles around. Could life be any greater? Digitech JMSXT Jamman Solo XT Stereo Compact Pedal - The Box. Monoprice 109296 3-Feet Stereo Male to 3.5mm Stereo Male Gold Plated Cable for Mobile, White - Connecter for sync of various boxes; one needed for each added one. SanDisk Ultra 16GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDHC Memory Card Up To 48MB/s With Adapter- SDSDQUAN-016G-G4A [Newest Version ] - Adds to your looping time. Each unit purchased can do with one. DigiTech FS3X Three-Function Foot Switch - Various functions are simplified with this. On Stage PC304 Pedal To Pedal Coupler - Connects the audio from box to box where multiple units are used. Two are required for each additional box since the Jamman is stereo.

Excellent looper at a great price
I’ve used other loopers and I was considering getting considerably more expensive ones when I came across this one. In terms of features this is most comparable to the Boss RC-3 but is considerably less expensive. With the FS-3X footswitch this will cover pretty much anyone’s looping needs thanks to the dedicated stop button and ability to move between loops. Most importantly, the quantization is fantastic. With other loopers I’ve often struggled to get the start/stop points of loops perfectly timed - some just aren’t precise enough, while others require you to be inhumanly accurate. This JamMan seems to get it right without fail.
