Kelty Hiking Daypacks Ardent, Green Camo, One Size

This is by far the best day pack I have every owned. The whole bag is designed to distribute weight effectively, have contents accessible and be comfortable to carry. I have used this bag every day since I bought it a few months ago. I have taken it on buses, boats, and airplanes. I have used it to carry up to 30 pounds of books, computers and clothes. The bag has several pockets amongst which to distribute gear. The main part of the pack has a square bottom that distributes weight well and carries far more than I expected. The laptop section can carry my MacBook pro in its own sleeve + an ipad in a sleeve, though there is also a felted pocket on the front of the bag that can also carry an iPad. Bonus for air travel that the laptop sleeve is accessed easily and the velcro on the laptop flap is strong. In addition to these pockets there is a large deep pocket in front for pens, glasses, smaller notebooks & books, etc (with smaller pockets to separate things out, like feminine products). AND there is a "safe" pocket at the top back of the bag big enough for keys and wallet. The side beverage pockets are both big enough to hold water bottle and thermos well (as long as you don't overstuff the bag). The bag is sturdy, roomy and very attractive. Love this bag.

Love this pack. I only carry on when possible to avoid checked bag fees etc. This backpack holds a lot for its size and there pockets are logically placed. Good volume in main compartment. Comfortable to wear.

It's reasonably comfortable for me. I had bought a 2nd hand similar backpack in a store and it was amazing for airport travel with laptop but the zipper was broken so I figured it was time to buy new. Of course one of the chest strap attachments on this doesn't stay snapped so that's a bit frustrating. I will have to sew that thing closed so I don't lose it. WIthout the chest strap, it's very heavy even with a few pounds.The laptop compartment is VERY secure; you need to take the backpack completely off and flip the backpack straps over to get at it. Which is very nice but a bit of a hassle for passing the laptop through airport security for those of us who don't yet have TSA pre-check. It's pretty easy to slide my small Macbook Air in and out bit I am not sure how a full size laptop would fit.The inner main pocket is huge! Fishing around in there for stuff was driving me nuts until I through to put everything in packing cubes to keep it organized.All the pockets are on the exterior, which is a nightmare. All my bits and bobs are exposed to pickpockets and I only use this in airports and NYC. And I can never ever find a darned thing. I am solving this by again, putting stuff into packing cubes and using the larger interior pocket. It really is ridiculous searching through all the pockets very single time!It's blah looking to me. I wish they came cuter, but I had to go with this brand since I have sloping shoulders and backpacks are a very hard thing to get comfy in.

I use this bag quite often. Mostly for day hikes, but imo it is an urban bag. Still I’ve done an overnight lightweight camp out with it.I fit a hammock, tarp, under quilt and an army surplus wool blanket in the main pouch.It has a laptop sleeve and a tablet sleeve as well. Lots of storage. Can fit a 38oz Nalgene in each side pocket.Love it. 👍

Perfect backpack. Great space, and feels light even if you pack it down. I love the space for the laptop and all pockets are super useful. Material is nice, as well

Part of a zipper broke and backpack is too narrow

Great bag and all the comments helped me decide on this bag. Many pockets all over. Deep and fits everything and more. Don’t believe the zipper complaints. If you know how to use a zipper correctly and lead with your finger it won’t get messed up. Love Kelty products. Have another bag I couldn’t resist and even have a kelty blanket.

I bought this pack to replace my current pack and was really excited. Yes, it has tons of space and seems like it would be great. But no matter what it’s top heavy and falls forward every single gosh darn time I put it down. So, if it’s packed full and falls over, everything falls out the top if you don’t fully zip it! I would return it but I’m lazy!
