Turtle Beach Ear Force DX12 (Renewed)

The Turtle Beach X12 headset was my first gaming headset years ago. I was blown away by it back then and have been using various headsets since. I really wanted the dss2 sound processor as it's supposed to sound great and is much cheaper than the Astro Mixamp or Turtle Beach tac. With this recertified combo I was able to get the dss2 for basically half price along with the X12 headset. If the box didn't say recertified on it I would have thought I received a brand new unit. No marks or scratches on anything and everything was included including the instruction manual. Was able to get my Astro A10 headset setup within minutes except chat doesn't work. I do get chat functionality with the X12 headset but I'm not sure I like all the wires involved in the setup. Still the dss2 sounds incredible and easily sounds better than the more expensive Elite Pro tac that Turtle Beach released. It may sound better than my Astro Mixamp TR as well. Only complaint I have is that it is a little difficult to know exactly what eq settings and speaker angles you have picked. If it spoke the information out this would be the steal of the century.

UpdateReview: The headset no longer works, sound flickers on and off, it seems like the second joint from the headset down got tweaked and no longer works,got it July 1 and has lasted till December 26. Still stand by the old review 100% but this problem seems to be a similar one to how my much older turtle beach stoped working. Pretty comfortable. You’ll need another piece for the headphones if you’re using them for ps3. But that only costs like $2 more so it’s fine. Audio is good, good volume. Can get uncomfortable if you play for longer than a respectable human should play video games but just readjust them on your ears and it’s ok.

They said these are recertified it I can tell you they looked brand new. There were no scratches or blemishes of any kind and they even had that new “car” smell. The headphone word perfectly and the extremely long cord means I don’t have to sit right in from of my tv or tethered to the controller. It’s a win with this product.

Good sound and mic quality. I have owned several turtle beaches they can be a bit fragile if your rough with them or pull them off your head in a rage quit be caused You lost. Tech side of this. You will need an xbox 360 hdmi audio adapter if you have the first release 360. If you are getting them for xbox one you will need a 2.5mm to 3.5 mm adapter. But make sure it's a turtle beach brand, not 2.5mm to 3.5mm are the same some have the mic and sound poles reversed. If your buying any headset for xbox any model find out which model you own what accessorie you want and YouTube it, parents a little info and YouTube is your friend. Sorry for the winded explanation just want to clear things up with these headsets. P.S xbox is a pain all the way around they make nothing easy.

So far I am really enjoying this headset. It is very comfortable. The microphone works very well; I am using Dragon Natural Speaking, and it is working great. The sound is excellent. I can't tell it is refurbished. I haven't used the surround sound box with it because my computer doesn't have a digital audio port and I haven't purchased an adapter yet. But even without the box it is really nice. Just plug in the USB, audio, and mic plugs and away you go!

After taking back both $100 astro and turtlebeach headsets i ordered these again. I had the only x12s without the dss2 and they were fantastic but being held together with electrical tape now lol Other new wireless headphones just couldn't compare. maybe its just me. And now with the DSS2 surround processor these are just amazing. Being able to change virtual surround speakers positioning has made be able to hear things behind me so much more clearly especially when playing pubg. Paired with windows sonic on xbox one you cannot go wrong with these. Says refurbished but they are packaged and look brand new.Only con is the 16ft of cable but you work with it lol

Excellent quality material, high-quality audio. If you love bass, this is by far the best headset I have tried for bass heads. It has a powerful amplifier, and it is comfortable for gaming or listening to music. This is the second time I buy the X12 headset.
