Solid, fair sized and enough features for an average family
Need a fryer that is well-priced, works well and carries more of a prestigious lineage? This T-fal fits the bill. I got this at a good price and wasn't sure what to expect when it arrived but was pleasantly surprised. When you open the box, it is obvious that this is a no-frills, fairly basic fryer that is good for an average sized family. We fried some chicken breasts cut up (about 1.25 pounds) and it took 2 full baskets to fry them to perfection. Seriously, the chicken looked beautiful and tasted outstanding. This model holds a good bit of oil (it is a 3 quart model) and has a nice window to see your food cooking.Something that I noticed right away (and a reason I would rate this 4.5 stars if possible) is the way the basket feels when you set it down. There doesn't seem to be a place for it to sit perfectly but rather feels like it is just sitting on the heating element...which happens to be the case. This did not impact cooking, however and when you put the lid on (as is absolutely recommended), it holds it in place).I wish the handle could fold down when you were cooking to avoid bumping it but for this price and value, I am not complaining. You are absolutely able to fold the basket handle when you are not cooking (do not attempt to do when it is hot) and it enables you to keep it stored as a nice box shaped item but during cooking that is not an option; as was the case with the model it replaced...which was much larger. When you are frying and ready to take the food out of the fryer, the basket does have a nice feature to allow you to rest it on the lip to enable the grease to drip-dry. This is nice, helpful and lends itself to less greasy food (but not dry).Overall, we love this fryer and T-fal as a brand. It has served us well over the years with cookware and their foray into fryers seems to be going well. The larger (and more expensive) model has a nice oil filtration system which is really cool-looking. If we fry a lot, we might just upgrade.Either way, good value, functionality and form factor resulting in a very solid 4.5 star rating!

T-fal TR1014 is the best small fryer I've owned
I purchased the T-fal TR1014 at a steep discount as it was 'like new'. Even though this is an older model, it is precisely what I was looking for. I had no need for a 'oil filtration system' when I can simply use a strainer if I want to reuse the oil. I also wanted it to hold a good amount of food and be inexpensive. I immediately unpacked and washed the various parts. This machine was in it's original box and appeared in pristine shape. The instructions were simple but the fryer is so intuitive to use, I didn't really need them. I preheated the oil in the unit which took 5-10 minutes. I fried my food with ease. Nothing stuck to the basket. My food tasted wonderfully crunchy. The parts were easy to clean. I have had fryers before and even have a huge turkey fryer. I got this because I wanted something compact that I could easily pull out to use but that also could hold a good amount of food. The basket is definitely large enough to fry for a family of 3 or 4. I am very happy with this purchase and hope this fryer lasts for years to come.

Pretty good
This deep fryer is pretty great. In the space of all of these deep fryers kind of working the same, I don't have complaints about this one. It's sturdy, fries the food evenly, and quickly. However, the "window" for you to see the food frying definitely doesn't work the way it's supposed to, as the steam from the frying blocks the view. Also, when you lift the cover up to check the food, condensation and splattering oil that landed on the top of the fryer sometimes falls all over the counter. I would still recommend this fryer though, these aren't really deal breakers for me.

Excellent Fryer, heats up quick, filters oil well
I purchased the T-Fal1014 Pro Enamel Immersion Deep Fryer to replace an older deep fryer that had seen better days. I have been fairly happy with this particular fryer although it is a bit on the small side. I find that the element heats the oil up fairly quickly and stays evenly heated when compared to my older fryer. The basket handle is great because instead of sitting on top of the fryer it is outside of the fryer making it much safer to remove the basket. The basket is dishwasher safe but I do prefer to wash all of my cooking gadgets by hand in hot soapy water.I found that the oil filter was actually really effective and probably one of my favorite features of the unit, it really does save on oil and have found I can re-use oil numerous times before I need to replace it completely. In general, I think it's a pretty amazing little fryer and does an outstanding job and would suggest it to anyone looking for one.

Too Big For Small Kitchens
I never used the fryer before returning it. I unpacked the box & realized it was too large to store in my small kitchen. If this is something I would use frequently (weekly, or even biweekly), I could make space for it. But as I only fry foods once every month or two, the overall size is detrimental to my needs. I will stick with deep frying in a skillet or stockpot on the stovetop. That said, if space isn't an issue, everything stores nicely in a compact manner within the unit, in a concise rectangular footprint. One of the biggest selling points for me was that most of the unit is dishwasher safe, which would make cleanup a breeze. As I knew I wasn't able to store the unit, I didn't get to try out how it actually cooks to give a complete review.

Cooks perfectly and easy to use!!
This takes a lot of oil but it is amazing!! Not sure how long the oil will last but I've made onion rings, zucchini chips and a corn dog so far. We have a small kitchen so the only downfall for us is the size but other than that it heats up fast and cooks perfectly!! The basket is a super great too! Hooks to the side so the oil can drain off.
