First Skeptical but Highly Impressed
When I opened these monitors I was very skeptical about the sound quality and if they would have enough punch for live sound applications. I will admit that I was very wrong. Despite not having a compression driven horn, the highs are amazingly crisp and clear on these monitors. They pack plenty of power for any stage monitoring application and sound great, provided you know how to process and EQ.The build quality is very sturdy with the only weak point being the power connector. I worry about the plastic connector that is used for the power plug. To avoid any issues, I have mandated that we unplug the power chords from the monitor before transporting them. Easy fix for what may not even be a problem.Additionally, I really like the XLR link function so you can simply add as many wedges as you want to a single mix. This is very handy and keeps the board output clean and simple and reduces stage clutter.Very nice product, will be buying more!

Great compact monitor
Why do so many monitors need to be huuuuge and heavy? I'm a gigging musician in several bands, and sometimes I need to bring the PA. The cabinet size was a primary concern for me. I can pack 4 of these Samson monitors into the same space in my SUV as just one typical wedge monitor. These aren't the loudest monitors, but they are loud enough. The sound is clear, I can carry two at a time, and the compact size also has a small footprint on stage. The perfect monitors if you aren't anxious to pack 5 tons of gear into a tractor trailer.- small- powered- lightweight- good stage monitors for live sound- good hand-holds- affordable

Great for guitar amp modeling processors!
I purchased two of these stage monitors for a stereo setup with my Line 6 Helix and they are super impressive. They are articulate and very warm. The top end is not harsh and is not fatiguing; this aspect I like most with these speakers as they remind me of a real guitar combo amp. The sound is NOT dampened under heavy or fast attack nor do they sound compressed. Lots of headroom as well.Weight is 27.66 lbs and light enough to carry to gigs. It is diminutive in size but at 800 watts, it delivers a lot of power.I really enjoy these speakers but I wish the retail price was a little bit better. But then again, maybe Samson knows they have a gem here and priced it accordingly.

Terrible FOH speaker, great monitor.
I bought this speaker as a dedicated monitor because putting my expensive QSCs and Yamahas on the floor at the front of the band where beer gets spilled makes me very nervous. Also, I never liked the angle they sat at when they were used as monitors, and wanted something that aimed up more so I could bring it closer to the band. I figured I’d try this one since it was real wood with a class d amp and the correct speaker angle for a monitor.I hooked up my guitar and vocal rig to this Samson RSXM10A, a QSC K10, and a Yamaha DXR12, for comparison. The first thing I noticed is that the Samson seems a lot heavier in the 200-800hz region than the other two. As a result, it doesn’t sound as bright. It has a more ‘boxy’ and consistent sound, compared to the clearer and more dynamic sound of the other two. Now it may sound like I’m bashing it, but the funny thing is, I actually started to prefer it as a monitor over the other two, the more I used it.The thing is, the other two speakers are designed to be foh speakers, and you need to push high sounds a lot harder when most of the audience will be 15-45 feet away. But when you’re directly in front of a speaker the way you are with a monitor, that level of brightness can become overbearing. And with the extra sound in the lower register, I found I could hear what note I was singing better on the Sampson, which helped me stay in pitch, even if I couldn’t hear as much detail.Long story short, I’m keeping it. I’ll never use it as a FOH speaker, it doesn’t sound good from more than 10 feet away. But as a monitor, it’s great, and my ears get less fatigued than they did using the QSC wedges.

Great as a monitor
I purchased this speaker to use as a monitor for my PA system. It has plenty of power and sounds great for this purpose. I don't think I would use it as a main. It has enough power for a small space but the range isn't quite as nice as my larger mains. That said it's an excellent monitor. The box is a bit heavy but I don't mind that. It gives it a quality build feel. I like the added cooling fan and the controls are simple. I will likely expand my PA and add another monitor and when I do it will be another one of these.

Good for small venue
First of all, the wattage power rating is far overrated. For a powered speaker, you won’t be able to use this for a standalone PA. 800 watts is really 400 watts and the speaker itself is labeled 350 watts. You’ll need heavy amps to drive 300 watts out of this. The sound is good and clean. I have daisy chain 4 across the stage and it works well, but it’s a quieter venue

Get this monitor!
I'm a drummer. I bought this (in a 10") for our 5 piece rock/party band. This thing is amazing. Just got it and used it tonight at practice. A+. Levels were about noon on the board and I couldn't get the monitor past 1/4 volume. Night and day difference from my old Berringer monitor. Any bad reviews are guys using it for Mains. It's an AWESOME monitor. Don't know why I hesitated.

Dead on Arrival
Quality control is key and Samson seems to be lacking there. This was dead out of the box. It would not power on. Disappointing.
