super easy to set up
I have used dvr system, foscam, nest cam, etc.. here are my thoughts:nest cam: super easy to set up. plug and play in less than 5min. wide angle, 1080 resolution. however, have to pay an arm and leg for storage in the cloud. no local storagefosam c2: the darn port forward but after that, you get 1080p, wide angle, third party phone app (allowing you to view, nest cam, foscam, cisco cam on the same app). multiple way to record in different location, local cpu, sd card, cloud (super cheap 4cam for $8/mo) and on your phone as well.samsung pro: easier to set up than foscam but limited storage options, storage is only at 1080. bulkier cam, regular ac/dc wire and not micro usb cable.winner: foscam c2 for now.Hope this helps.

Five Stars
Nice camera, easy to use and setup, it is on 24x7 and it has never failed once. I have it on wifi.I love the software, easy to mange and setup alerts (i caught my dog on the kitchen table)I access it using the foscam app, or foscampro; but, i recently downloaded the blue iris app and it works nicely on there as well.In the pic attached you will see how clear the resolution is, i wish it was better, but for an 1080p is fine, it helps me see if my wife let the stove on when she asks me to check it.

Inconsistent at best, useless and frustrating otherwise!
I have two C2 cameras and both are on the same current firmware revisions. At times I can only connect to Camera #1 and Camera #2, while configured the same, will not connect ever via the app but I can login via Internet Explorer on a desktop PC. Reboots and wiping the configuration and starting over does not help.Motion recording (Camera #2 - driveway) is trash - I'll end up with thousands of photos one night with the sensitivity set to the lowest value and a very small section configured for motion detection. The next night I'll get nothing. Within the motion detection area I never see what I'm hoping to see (cars in/out of the driveway). Storing images to local network NAS via FTP is also hit or miss (more misses than hits it seems) and I'll have no recording for multiple days and then it will start back up again. If you try to navigate to the motion detection page via phone app you will lose the settings you had previously configured via IE. Setting the area again via the phone app may or may not work.I'm done with Foscam - these were cameras #4 and #5 I purchased from them but since they tried to go the 'cloud' path their software and phone app have gone strictly downhill. I need an IP camera that will actually capture necessary movement and if I have to pay more for a Google/Amazon solution then so be it.

Mixed result - perhaps an improvement over the C1 720p model
I purchased the Foscam C1 and C2 cams to try out and have had a poor experience configuring them. I am posting this review for both the C1 and C2 cams.= The GoodThe image of the C1 is fine for a 720p cam. The image of the C2 is fine for a 1080p cam. The camera look is attractive and the base functionality of the camera is probably fine. The bracket/stand seems to be well thought out. The C1 has has 2 LEDs on the front (look at me flash). The C2 has 1 LED on the rear (they now seem to get that this isn't a toy).= The WorseI have heard the cam reboot once per hour, and I can't explain why. Perhaps the network stack was going nuts during this period (see below). Yes, said I have "heard" the camera reboot at times. The cam plays an audio clip (Hello Foscam) after it boots. It also says whether it connected wired or wirelessly. Why this is annoying at times, it is actually useful in making you aware of the connection state - but an LED would do fine as well. For me the audio clip was also the indicator that the camera was rebooting unexpectedly. On the other hand, if I have to listen to this cam blather at 4am in the morning, I may throw it at the nearest wall. Both of these cams can only be configured by using IE with their REQUIRED Active-X control. This is annoying as well as a potential threat vector. Rather then spending time providing a simple configuration interface (instead more complex config and viewing interface) they choose the heavy, risky Active-X, IE-only interface. It would certainly be nice if they provided a Telnet/SSH text interface for basic configuration. As usual, these cameras have the me-too silly cloud garbage features. I urge everyone to ignore this stuff and buy a camera management app, like Blue Iris or similar for 50 bucks or less, and then break free of the proprietary cloud junk that no vendor gets right. There is NOTHING that these camera vendors can do in the cloud better than good camera software. Buy the 3rd-party software once and be happy with any mix of cameras from then on. As far as cloud features go, I cannot really compare it to other vendors' offerings as I will never spend any more time needed than it take to turn it all off in the config. The C1 has this sill SoftAP feature. It is meant to be a 2.4ghz AP that someone can use to directly attach to the camera. This is silly and the use case would be in the 1% range - those without an AP at home - perhaps grandma with a new cell phone wanting to watch her garden grow. I don't see a switch to turn this off, oh, and you must supply it a password (implying it will always be on). Just what I need another AP clogging up the 2.4ghz spectrum. You'd think they could provide an On/Off switch.= The BadNow for the part that will tick you off...If you are an experienced layer2 and layer3 professional, the non-standard behavior/configuration of these cams will drive you nuts. I am not sure if the problem stems from poor DHCP implementation, buggy PHY, or specific camera configuration bugs. I did not resort to network analysis before eventually getting the cameras to connect properly (2 hours). The request for DHCP vs Static IP beahavior config in not consistently respected upon camera boot up. You can set the camera to Static IP mode and be wired and the camera will not honor the static IP request. If you then pull the wired Ethernet cable and attach wirelessly, then the DHCP vs Static IP setting seems to be honored - I can't say how inconsistent this is, but it is enough to drive you nuts. Reboots don't seem to make things any better. It is as though the wired connection will always be DHCP and the wireless connection will perhaps honor your DHCP vs Static IP setting. Something is buggy but I am not wanting to spend any more time debugging their inconsistent network interface. I myself only do DHCP reservations these days, static IPs are too much headache on a larger network with multiple segments changing at times. These cameras almost got boxed up and sent back but I persisted and in spite of their buggy network stack I got them working. Both cameras behaved the same, so this all seems intentional. Finally my PFSense applicance gives them each a nice DHCP address as they connect to a 2.4ghz AP. I am not sure how the 5ghz works, I didn't try it.

Nice camera - requires windows
The camera itself is nice, full featured, and it actually worked right out of the box without too difficult a network setup procedure. The reason I did not give it 5 stars though is that it can Not be fully setup using the iOS app and also the settings for the camera can Not be accessed using a Mac computer. I was fortunate enough to have access to a windows machine which is necessary for this camera. If they would either add full functionality to the iOS app or add Mac configuration support I would give this 5 stars.

which is the main reason that I purchased this camera * Camera seems to stay connected to the network via WiFi just fine. * Fosc
Follow up -- Main issue with action-alerts resolved* I worked with Foscam support to generate a patch for the latest firmware that will disable PIR for action-alerts. This allows the action-alerts to trigger when the Foscam views through glass towards the outdoors. *IF* you receive the patch from them, I recommend that you only enable action-alarms during daylight hours. During the night, I received a steady stream on false alarms...Few issues:1. Setup was challenging.2. Image quality is 'meh'3. Motion detection does not work, which is the main reason that I purchased this camera* Camera seems to stay connected to the network via WiFi just fine.* Foscam keeps releasing firmware updates that are not addressing my main issue with the product, which is the motion detection...* Foscam support is not addressing issues with this camera

Not suitable to use as security camera
Though the specs on paper are appealing but this camera lacks a good processor due to which image quality is never good when someone is moving little fast in front of the camera. This camera captures high quality and stable images/recordings only when items are idle in front of it and this is the main reason that one cannot use this camera as security camera. There are three ways to store images/recordings of this camera 1) Foscam cloud where you need to pay around 50 dollar per year for storing last 7 days images/recordings which i believe is not a good option for people who just want to invest once for camera with any additional charges later on. Please note it is not mandatory to take this service and there are free alternatives for storing images/recordings. 2) Second option of storing images/recordings is on sd card which we insert in the camera. There are two drawbacks of using sd card, first one is that there is no way to copy the contents from sdcard to your local pc or mobile, we can only play the images/recording only if we login to the camera from windows pc(i could never login to camera using mac). If we remove sd card from camera and insert it to windows pc using sd card adapter, windows says that sd card is corrupt and needs formatting so i think c2 camera stores files in such a way that we cant copy paste the recordings using sd card directly. Second drawback of using sdcard is for people who use the camera to monitor outside or main gate passage, if someone steals the camera then even sd card will go with it and we cant make out who actually took away the camera. 3) Third way of storing images/recordings is on ftp server i.e. there is a setting in camera to use FTP server to store images/recordings which i prefer to use because it is free as i have configured FTP server in my home router and images/recordings directly go to the harddisk attached to my home router. Even someone takes away the camera, i will be able to see who did that as images will be available till camera loses power. But this might not be useful for people who are not aware of router settings or not interested to mess up with router or uses basic routers which do not support FTP server.Due to the above mentioned problems, it is not wise to buy this camera for a price around or more than Rs. 10000.There are some other method too to store the image/recordings i.e on PC or mobile but you need to keep the power of PC on and mobile screen should also be on, then only it will record continuously to your PC or mobile. Some good points are 1) human movement detection capability is excellent, it never misses anyone's movment but whether you will recognise her/him based on the speed the movement 2) night mode is also good if not excellent. But to summarize, i will say that this is not suitable as a security camera

Excellent camera - Poor mounting options and power cable
After much research I decided to try the Foscam C2. I wanted an IP security camera that would connect, not just to my network, but would also allow me to use my own software to manage the camera with my Windows PC. I have several security cameras and manage them all using "iSpy", an open source surveillance program available at www.ispyconnect.com. This connectivity is important because iSpy lets me configure recording, areas for motion detection, blocking of certain parts of an image (my neighbour's property for example), and so on. I tested several other very good cameras but returned them because you were shackled to a cloud recording system.I also needed a camera with a wide angle and the Foscam C2 provides one of the highest viewing angles.I mounted the C2 inside a window facing out into the yard. I turned off the infrared lights (that would have reflected off the glass) and I was very pleased at the C2's sensitivity to low light compared to other makes and models. I have D-link and Trendnet cameras that only "see" complete darkness until a motion-activated light comes on. The C2 sees very well and houses, trees, bushes, the driveway, sidewalk, etc. are all easily discernible in the ambient light. People walking by are not identifiable but you can clearly see the size, build, and number of people. The C2's microphone is very sensitive.Setup is done through your browser and I had difficulty with the plug-in with Chrome. However, with Internet Explorer I had no problems. The setup allows you to set the IP address, turn the IR lights on and off, turn the microphone on and off, and so on. Being able to turn off the microphone is a nice feature as the camera "sees" outside, but "hears" everything going on in our living room. One big flaw with the C2 isn't the camera itself but the mount. The mount is a double hinge with a round base the same diameter as the camera itself. This mean that you can't substitute another standard camera mount as you can with most others. The camera itself only lets you flip the image. In other words you can mount the camera upside down then flip the image, but you can't mount the camera at a 90 degree angle. Fortunately, this is where the third party software can compensate. If this camera only steamed to the cloud you'd have to turn your head to view the image. The power supply cable isn't as long as it could be and I've had to order another from another vendor.Final word: An excellent and versatile camera flawed by its mounting hardware and power cable.

NO Canadian support. PAID cloud service fails to record. Told me to shop elsewhere.
DO NOT BUY especially if you live in Canada.Tried to get some help with a paid online service they offer for their cameras. Their number on their own website sent me to a spam number. (BAD SIGN) Finally got a response to an email, I ask for a number that I could call to get support. Was told that they do not offer support for Canadians, have been trying to get my camera to work for the last three weeks and I'm stuck with worthless "support" like turn it off and back on.Spend your hard-earned cash elsewhere, like they told me to do.The picture quality in the day is great but sadly the camera can't be trusted to be used as a security system. Saves fail all the time, the website fails and uses flash which puts your computer at risk. Just not worth it at all. Please learn from my mistakes and DO NOT BUY.I bought from "by Foscam"

Terrible motion quality
I have 15 Foscam C1s at work so thought I'd give this a shot.I use Blue Iris to detect motion and record videos. After a painful setup to get ONIF to work, I sat back to see how it worked. Unfortunately, I was in for a huge disappointment. Even with the *slightest* movement there's a lot of blur / ghosting in the video. This one also came with a US plug.

Not bad for the price
So easy to set up even on an iMac without the mini disc. I really liked the clarity for night and day, but I don't think it's 26ft in IR mode. Customer service is as everyone says not to deal with. They put you on hold for at least 40 min so you will hang up so don't bother calling them. The app for an Samsung phone works great, same for iPhone but won't let you update on either. Computer upgrades automatically so great. I came back to buy another and there were none available, so I ordered another camera through the US site and they charged me for 2! In the end I got refunded for both because they were out of stock as well. This pulled up a red flag for me about this camera. We'll see soon. All in all would be great to have 2 and will wait till available on here from this seller.
