Quali-Pro Quinclorac 75 DF Selective Herbicide 1lb

This stuff could not have worked any better. Wiped out the crabgrass in my southwest Florida empire zoysia with ease. Only complaint, if you could call it that, would be f o r an option to purchase a smaller amount as it is so potent.

Tennessee yard guy here. Let me first say, I'm no lawn care expert at all. I've always been into yards though. A passion I inherited from my dad. When I got my first house, I knew I wanted to have a nice yard and I worked hard at maintaining that with fertilizer, weed control and mowing 2-3 times a week. It wasn't until after I found Youtube channels like Connor Ward and Ryan Knorr that I decided to truly get hardcore into it. I have a mixture of common Bermuda, Tifway Bermuda and some patches of Tall Fescue. Like everybody, weeds was always a constant battle. I've had mild success with your normal big box store weed killers, but I have always battled my dreaded nemesis, crabgrass. Seems like no matter what I used, hardly anything would really get rid of it. I used Fertilome, 2-4-d (one time, before I realized it wasn't for crabgrass), SedgeEnder to even MSMA. No matter what I did, crabgrass always reared its ugly face - until this past week. Quinclorac 75 DF is my godsend. I know there are some others out there like Tenacity. This was my first time dealing with a granular type herbicide that you mix with water so I was definitely a bit nervous because this stuff is not cheap. While I can not speak to why some maybe didn't have any success with this stuff, but for me it worked wonders. I literally received my order of Quinclorac this past Friday, got home from work and sprayed the yard that afternoon. I was scared that it wasn't going to work because the following morning on Saturday about 10-11am, it started raining all day. So it had less than 24 hours to sit on the turf as the instructions gave. By Sunday afternoon as I'm typing this up, just about all that I sprayed with Quinclorac is dead. I mean dead. Not turning purple, or yellow or red. Black. Dead. I have never seen anything work as fast as Quinclorac. I'm literally floored. I mostly did spot spraying, especially in my side and backyard. But my front yard was especially rough. I kind of had to spot spray and then also spray and pray because there was so much in certain places. I didn't kill it all, but I knew going in I was probably going to have to do a second round anyway for those that I may have missed as well as those that popped up after I sprayed. Quinclorac is not a pre-emergent. For those needing mixing instructions. It's 1 tablespoon per gallon of water (for 1000 sqft). Also you MUST use a surfactant. If not, I'm afraid you're going to be wasting your time. Quinclorac recommends MSO surfactant because its supposedly better at breaking into the weed and causing it to die. All I had was NIS. I put in 2 tablespoons according to Quinclorac's instructions for MSO. My NIS said 1 teaspoon per gallon, so I know I greatly overdid it. I also used some blue Turfmark so I could highlight what I had already sprayed. Fill half full of water, put your Quinclorac/Surfactant/Turfmark in, close it up and shake thoroughly for a good 15 seconds. Put your remaining water in. Close it up, shake it again and go spray. Do periodically shake it while you're out spraying to keep it circulating in your water. I'm not sure how long Quinclorac will last, but based on what I used, I feel like this stuff will last me a few years. If you have a crabgrass problem, I cannot more highly recommend Quinclorac. If it doesn't work for you, I would encourage you to check what surfactant you used. If it's NIS, give MSO a shot.

Wish it was cheaper, but honestly it works like nothing else to kill crabgrass if you miss your preemergent window. And given that, it's not really too pricey per k. No, it's not particularly easy to use, but it's a professional product. If you want easy but not too effective, and way more expensive per k, hit the big box stores. While this takes a little more effort, and way more NEED to read the safety and application label, it's very effective and quite concentrated.

I wanted to try this product but the liquid form was too expensive so I settled for the powder. I overseeded with tall fescue a couple days after spraying. The Quinclorac 75 DF worked better then I expected. I have used Meso and Ortho's products and Speedzone over the last 20 years and Quin. so far is my new favorite. It has less affect on other weeds but crabgrass is one of the hardest weeds to kill. I think it won't replace the other weed killers and you are suppose to buy a speader/sticker as an additive when mixing up the Quin. Mixing the granular Quin. is a little harder than liquid weed killers. I believe it is mixed at 1 Tablespoon per gallon of water. I would mix it with water THEN add the speader/sticker. When I added the Quin. and the additive before the water the the Quin. turned into a hard to mix muddy ball. The other thing is that it can't be used with a hose end sprayer- you have to use a pump up (like a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer) so it is more time consuming to use and this makes for a less even application- but it is safer to use the hand held sprayer. After a week I saw better results and it didn't seem to badly affect my overseeded fescue. I am seeing new weeds starting 3 weeks after applying Quin but no new crabgrass ( crabgrass does die out in late fall anyway but I wanted to speed that up). Next year I plan to use it more during the crabgrass season. Quin. is not a preventive, it is a post emergent product. Last year I tried Meso 4SC Select and was not very impressed with weed control overall but it may be better for weeds other than crabgrass and it is a pre-emergent but is ok to use before overseeding tall fescue. Meso was a very slow weed killer. I tried Speedzone several years ago seemed like a better version of Ortho lawn weed killer but not great for crabgrass. My neighbors yards are all just weeds so I have to spray a lot more carefully and often to have even moderate success with a fescue yard. The best part of buying this Quin. is that the 1 lb. container of Quinclorac 75 DF should last me several years on my 1/4 acre yard. This review is for residential usage not commercial.

Originally, I researched this product to get rid of crabgrass. What I learned with further research was that it claimed to be effective against bindweed as well. Over the last 2 years, I've had 3 flower beds that gradually became overrun with bindweed. If you know what I'm talking about, you'll know what a nightmare it is trying to control the spread. You either go scorched earth and heavily spray with groundclear or some other 1 year vegetation (as in all grass, weeds, flowers, shrubs, etc.) killer, or you have to pull bindweed every week. Well, I can tell you this stuff is AMAZING against crabgrass and bindweed. For crabgrass, 1 application to my lawn and it killed all of the crabgrass in about a week without harming my Kentucky Blue Grass. For Bindweed, it took 2-3 applications over a week but after they died, I dug deep into the soil to confirm that it effectively killed the bindweed down to the roots for at least a foot, if not deeper. Since the application of Quinclorac, none of it has returned in 2 weeks which to me, is a miracle. I totally endorse this even though it's a bit pricey, the bottom line is IT WORKS!

Within 2 days, all the crabgrass that was treated was noticeably dying and did not harm my lawn. It is easy to use and dissolves quickly. I recommend applying Quinclorac 75 DF before 12 noon, and to make sure that it adheres and remains on the crabgrass, use a Surfactant. After putting the two products and the correct amount of water in your pump sprayer, be sure to shake a little for everything to mix.

A distant second best compared to MSMA for crabgrass and invasive Saint Augustine control in a Bermuda lawn. With MSMA, full sun, no rain for a few days and with temps of ~80+ deg, I usually saw yellowing in about 2 days and after about a week, full results. With this product, it took almost a week before I saw some yellowing and after about two weeks, the crab grass and Saint Augustine is mostly still there. Based on appearance they seem to be in a mildly weakened state but far from gone and clawing their way back to health. I sprayed again, hope to see full results soon. Given that MSMA is no longer available outside of specific-use commercial applications, Quinclorac seems to be the only direct replacement for MSMA. I used the recommended mix rate of 1TBS of Quinclorac 75 DF, 2TBS of methylated seed oil as a surfactant mixed into 1GAL of water. It's recommended to fill the sprayer about half way, add the Quinclorac and methylated seed oil then fill the sprayer completely. Shake vigorously and then use - immediately. Once mixed and in a sprayer, it breaks down quickly. 24 hours seems to be the consensus. Best to mix only what you'll use right away. I'd suggest estimating how much you need, mix half that much, mix more if needed. Anything left over will potentially be wasted. I've read that this has a shelf life in the original container of 1-3 years IF it's stored in a cool, dry location and protected from direct sunlight. I'd suggest using a heavy duty, air tight plastic bag to place the container in, seal and store in your house if a climate controlled shed or garage isn't an option. This is my first experience with Quinclorac so my experience is limited. As time goes on, perhaps there are other ways of using this that might produce better results. I've read that it can be mixed with certain other herbicides and that there may be a synergistic effect. Definitely spend some time researching this product before purchase.

I was a little hesitant due to the cost to try this. After the first use I can say that I'm impressed at how quickly this kills crab grass. In 24 hours it was already dried up and brown. No damage to my Bermuda grass. I will definitely buy this again. Shipping was very fast too.
