MindWare Crystal Growing Kits (Christmas Tree)

This was a fun project. Only complaint is that my kids couldn't each do one at the same time because there's only one container. But it's reusable, one just had to wait a few days.

Probably my own fault for not reading closely enough, but this 2 pack only comes with 1 container. You can only make 1 at a time. Fortunately, I bought a 3rd for a different color so my 2 nieces were able to do theirs together!

First, boil the water you're going to use and make sure it's 100% dissolved, otherwise this won't work. We had to redo the first hedgehog. After boiling the water and letting them sit overnight, they were adorably spiky. My kids love them, it's a great (near) instant gratification project. Do it before bedtime and your kids will have little crystal hedgehogs by breakfast.The only thing they could improve would be to give another growing container since it came with only 1.

This is a gift and I don't know how it worked, bc it has not been reported back to me.

Got these as an Xmas gift for one of my kidsWho is really into science stuff and wanted to grow some crystals. They are way smaller than I was expecting. Definitely a bit underwhelming for the price, in hindsight would not buy again.

Cute and worked quickly but we had to simmered the solution to get it all to dissolve. Maybe it still would have worked but the more concentrated/saturated the solution the better it works.

Pro: Kiddos really like this one. Purchased 1, then 2-some. Crystals actually grow. Con: longterm, the crystals seem to shorten, but still cute. Fragile.

I have a very bummed kid- we followed the directions exactly and neither one worked well. The stone didn’t stay attached, the powder didn’t dissolve no matter how well we stirred it, definitely boiled the water…. What a mess. I do not recommend this at all.
