lots of exploding vehicles
I like 16:9. That is 3 in a row of that aspect and all three did not be 5.1 surroundsound but the decoder did justice on the stereo feed to create a fine sound field. I like the action and violence; so much that I really did not take any naps. I like the explosions; there was about a half dozen isolated events. I like the shooting. I like the punching and kicking. The three movies all were the first on the recommendations list. Prime knows what I like. And all three were 30 years old. They made excellent movies in the nineties.

Good thriller that is just a step below greatness
This film has great atmosphere. I really like the tone of it. Dolph Lundgren, Louis Gosset Jr., and the rest of the cast do a great job. The plot flows well, and has some twists. The twists make sense. The one flaw is that the story should have been fleshed out just a little bit more. I would still recommend this film to fans of action thrillers though.

Excellent thriller.
This is a very good film. There is action and romance. It's probably DL's most romantic film. There are explosions, shootouts, a car chase and a couple of well crafted fight scenes. This is one of the few films where DL is given a chance to act. He handles his role well. His female co-star is beautiful and plays off of him well. L. Gossett Jr. is great as usual. The only faults are the sound boom appearing in a few shots. Highly recommended for DL fans.

I'd like a higher quality transfer of it
This movie was good, but not great, however it's worth seeing and is probably Dolph Lundgren's only "serious" movie. I'm glad I watched it because I enjoyed it but it could use some serious restoration as the quality was quite blurry. Still very enjoyable, and certainly worth seeing.

Cheap and crappy
This was one of the most boring movies I ever watched. Dolph isn't a real good actor but this has to be his worse movie. Not a lot of action. Wish I wouldn't have picked this as my choice of movies to watch tonight.

Hollywood Release Version
This was a film I remember being quite good back in the day, and it's underrated. I won't say anything about the film itself but the Hollywood DVD release version. As per usual for Hollywood DVD this is a 4:3 (1.33:1) aspect ratio for this 1.85:1 film. So, depending on your TV, this will either be stretched across your screen giving you short fat people all the way through, or you'll get black bars either side of the picture (vertically). However, as I was watching the film I noticed that the picture information on the top and bottom were minimal, so I decided to pick my TV's "Cinema" option, which crops 4:3 pictures, zooming in to a 1.78:1 ratio. (Mostly TV's have this kind of option, or something similar.) I found the film was very watchable in this blown up ratio and you didn't miss anything worth missing from top and bottom because the film is shot in mostly mid-shots. I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I thought I would mention it. Not a bad film at all for its time.

A Decent Low Budget Thriller
By the time 'Cover Up' came out, Dolph Lundgren was an undisputed king of video rental action movies and this one more or less confirmed his status. This time, the big man plays a journalist sent to Israel to report on the theft of a chemical weapon from a US army base. Suffice to say that Dolph soon becomes embroiled in a terrorist plot, betrayal and double-cross.Action-wise, 'Cover Up' is quite limited. We get a couple of explosions, a couple of punch-ups and a decent car chase and that's about it. This movie is a more story-driven affair that focuses on murder and intrigue more than anything else. It also gives Lundgren the chance to play a slightly different type of character, which is quite refreshing and his interplay with Louis Gossett Jr. is good. He certainly won't win any awards for his performance, but he handles the change reasonably well.In terms of direction, Manny Coto keeps things perhaps a bit too simple. For me, the film needs a bit more pace and there are a couple of moments when the boom is visible, which is unforgivable, even for a B-movie. That being said, the Israel location provides a great setting. What I do have issue with is the DVD transfer. It's lifted directly from the VHS. Where's the widescreen? Also, the sound is muddy and muffled. There's a quality control issue here. All in all, 'Cover Up' is a decent early 1990s low budget thriller, and a satisfying entry in the Dolph cannon, but it needs a better DVD release.

IF THE LIES DON`T KILL YOU - THE TRUTH WILL.
Cover Up (1990) Not RatedRegion 1 (US Import) ARTISAN HOME ENTERTAINMENTDolph Lundgren plays Mike Anderson , an American journalist trying to peace together a story surrounding a sudden attack on the U.S. navel outpost near Tel Aviv a U.S. official (Louis Gossett, Jr) seems to be stonewalling the facts, but one thing is clear to Anderson - he`s in extreme danger. The stars of "The Punisher," Dolph Lundgren and Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr join forces again, plunging into the world of international terrorism in this volatile but entertaining thriller. The picture is a bit grainy but acceptable, the Stereo Surround is very clear. The biggest surprise was that even though on the disc and packaging both state that this movie is not widescreen but can be watched in Anamorphic Widescreen if your dvd player is set to (16:9) but not the UK dvds.Running Time: 88 minsAspect Ratio: (16:9) 1.85:1 Widescreen Enhanced For Widescreen tvsExtras: NoneAudio: 2.0 Dolby Stereo Surround (English Only)Subtitles: None
