What does it mean if your urine shows up purple on the strip?

If you are using this particular tape....QT-40, it is a sanitizer tape for testing sanitzer solutions, not a ph test tape for urine. If you are using a tape with a 5 to 9 range, then the reading should show the ph reading for your urine test result. Bluish purple is generally a higher alkaline reading on a 5 to 9 or 8 tape, depending on the tape you are using.

Do these have an expiration date? Any other Chlorine strips I have used in the past expire.

It is an industry best practice to follow the expiration date on test strips; however, in my experience they do seem to be effective well past the expiration date. If you are using these test strips daily, which you should, and you don't keep huge stockpiles, I wouldn't worry about the expiration date. Make sure they stay dry and throw them away if you see any discoloration. This applies to both qt-40 and chlorine test strips.
