Works like a charm--when nothing else did!
We have a new ond-and-a-half year old dog that we found at a shelter. He came from an Indian reservation to the south of us. He's a mix of a bunch of strong dogs; (probably) Rottweiler, German Shepherd, Husky, Pit Bull Terrier, you-call-it. He weighs about 70 pounds, and although sweet as a lamb, has a bit of a stubborn streak and a crazy prey drive. So, walking him was becoming a chore. Even our good old "choke chain" didn't deter him from pulling me along at will, whenever he saw a squirrel, or a leaf that looked even slightly like a squirrel. This collar and accompanying DVD changed all that in 5 MINUTES. I am NOT exaggerating that. I watchedthe section of the DVD on the inventor's philosophy, and the section on walking your dog. Then I put the collar on, and walked up and down our block with him two times. He was a completely different dog! Walking with ears cocked back, waiting for my commands, stopping when asked, turning when asked.....My husband and I did have to come up with a list of standard commands (heel-up, wait, stop, this way, let's go), so that we would be consistent. But all told, it was the collar that did the trick. I don't agree with anyone who thinks this collar is cruel, because (as the inventor says on his DVD), a well-behaved dog gets more walks, and is better treated by people than one that is frustrating and willful. If you have a defiant dog that pulls, this product is DEFINITELY worth a try. Just be sure to watch the DVD (even if you just watch the philosophy and walking sections), because there is a method to using this training collar.Less than two weeks later, our dog doesn't pull, even when we just put a simple soft slip-lead leash on him. He does what he's told and is as much a joy on the leash as in our laps! (70 pound lap-dog.........ooof!)

My dog still pulls.
Great quality for being made of plastic. Mine did not break on the first day like many other reviewers claim. It was easy to fit and adjust to my dog's neck. Very easy to put on and take off. I have been using this collar every day for over a month now.My dog continues to pull, though it has somewhat reduced. I have had better results with a metal pinch collar, however, I do not like using them, as they can be dangerous. This reduces the pulling, without me worrying about injuries to my dog. Also, I had not planned on watching the DVD, but got it out on a lazy day when my internet was down. It actually had a lot of good tips for general obedience training.

Broke fist use!
Broke in the first 50 feet! I have been a Perfect Dog fan for years, the training approach is superb and my dog does everything the video teaches. Down, stay, obey at distances, and much more. I purchased the whole program and package three years ago. So when I lost a piece to my old Perfect Dog Command Coller I was disappointed to find that I couldn’t just replace one piece. I loved the coller so much that opted to replace the whole thing. The quality of manufacturing has gone down the tube! Ring opened up and fell off in the first 50 feet!! The other ring also began to open. One of the links doesn’t have the opening to allow it to connect and disconnect. Overall next to the one I bought three years ago it’s just cheep and poor quality. Wish I could give 5 stars because the training program really works well, and the techniques actually work with any type of correction collar. So if all you want is the DVD, still a good buy. The collar is garbage now. Good news is my dog no longer needs the collar, if you do it right they learn to respond and can be weaned off of it. But I can’t use it to train other dogs.

50% effective
My 6 month-old lab pup (45 lbs) has no problem with daily walks, he heels pretty well, but has become quite rambunctious and excited when he sees other dogs or when we have visitors. So, I got this collar to control him in those situations. Well, when he gets excited, he doesn't feel the pain. So the collar is not as effective. I did watch the video and follow the instructions as to how I must use it. It did slow him down a little bit, but didn't give me the results (calm and submissive) I was expecting. So I got a gentle leader head collar instead, and wow! That thing works like a miracle. Yesterday, two plumber guys came to fix our water pump. When they knocked, my pup became all hyper again, but when I gave a very gentle tug on the gentle leader head collar, he immediately sat down and actually CALMED DOWN. I was able to calmly open the door, talk to the guys, and instruct them to downstairs. He sat through all of that without a sign of excitement. And then when the men were done, I talked to them like 15 minutes at the foyer. My pup was right there in a down stay (relaxed) position throughout. When I had to leave him right there with a "stay" command to get something, he stayed without a fuss. It was pretty impressive. I couldn't do that with the Perfect Dog Command Collar. (PDCC only brought him to a sitting position, but it didn't take away his excitement. The Gentle LEader HEad Collar actually brought him to calmness and submission, and all I did was just one gentle tug at the initial encounter with the visitors. I didn't have to do anything after that one little tug. He down stayed on his own accord.)I would say that this perfect dog command collar is good for mildly excited dog. With overly excited dog, it may not be as effective. My forearms became sore when we took him to Lake George, because I had to give him a quick snag each time someone approached him. (Because he's an adorable pup, every passers-by wanted to greet him and of course, he got excited every single time)I'll keep this collar for now, but right now, I will train him with a gentle leader head collar instead, and then probably switch to perfect dog command collar when he's a little maturer.
