I figured out how to remove the tag.
I have a bald head, so I am well versed in headgear.I consider this a technical item. It’s good active wear for cool days. It a great combination of warmth, weight, comfort, water shedding and style. It’s thin enough to wear under a hard hat which has been its primary use for me. However, on really cold days, I will be reaching for my thicker, albeit bulkier, acrylic beanie. To cleanly remove the tag on this reversible hat, cut the stitches that hold it on. The stitch runs through a reinforced seam that is not part of the hat. You can then pull the cut threads with no ill results.4 stars because smart wool should have put more thought into tag removal on a reversible hat.

Thinner than expected, but nice looking
I purchased this to give to my husband for Christmas, along with a more traditional beanie from Smartwool as a backup option. I was excited that it was reversible, however when I received it I realized that it would be too tight on his head and the very thin profile was more suited to someone who perhaps wanted to layer the hat. I gave it to my brother-in-law and I'm sure he will use it, out in Montana where they may want more layers, or a hat that won't be too bulky under a hooded jacket or helmet. I would equate the thinness to about the same as wearing two t-shirts. It's not thick, but it's not so thin that I'm concerned about a light breeze being felt through it.It's not immediately reversible when you get it. You'll have to remove the tag for it to be worn with the gray facing out. And as some have said, that will require removing the stitching holding it in place. Thankfully it doesn't appear to be on the main seam so you don't end up with the "trimmed tag" look. It's a nice hat, and honestly felt more like a synthetic fabric than the wool that I'm accustomed to, and it fits snugly. So if you have a larger than average head this may look a bit more skin-tight than you might be expecting it to. Closer to a skull-cap than a beanie in my opinion.

not properly reversible, tight
Not quite reversible and weirdly tight across my skull. On my XL-sized male noggin, this design felt noticeably tight across my forehead after wearing it a short while. It doesn't have the multi-panel design of their Smartwool PhD hat, which is better for a skull-hugging hat.Pulling it up a bit to ease the pressure didn't work because of the way the two layers are stitched together makes the crown of the hat stick up oddly (plus now my head is less covered). In general that layering feels "wrong". You can't adjust the placement of the hat (while wearing it) without the inner liner peeking out here and there. It's difficult to straighten without a mirror, or taking the hat off.And it's only "almost" reversible. You have to take the care tag off, but instead of a clean tear-away, its tight stitching has to be worked out of the hat's stitching. Good luck if you aren't willing to use a seam ripper on your new hat.And there's a visible seam (the one the tag is sewn onto) on the gray interior of the hat that isn't on the outside, which looks a little funny when on the outside.I normally love Smartwool products, but this one is a pass.

Very Nice Hat Not Too Hot
I had a stroke in March of 2019 and then brain surgery. Yep lucky to be alive! Because if this even though I’m going through the awful change I get cold easily! This hat is thin yet very warm. AND is one of the very few hats I can wear long term without giving me a headache. It’s not too tight. Yet it does stay on. It blocks the wind. Stayed outside all day in windy weather in it - about 45 degrees wind chill. I have a normal size head. I would even say you can stretch this out a little if you want. I also use this to walk in on cold days. Very versatile. I am female. 5’2” 160 lbs average size head. My husband who is 5’10” 200 lbs average size head has also worn this and says it fits him very well.

Love this beanie!!!
Love this hat! I have 2. Great for everything I use it for backpacking, snowshoeing skiing and reffing high school soccer in the winter. In cold windy down pours the wool keeps your head and ears warm ( I hate cold ears). When hiking or snowshoeing it keeps you warm as well as wicks away moisture. As far as fit I have a small head so its a little big on me, but pretty much every hat/beanie is. The color is awesome and is reversible. The other side of the bright blue is a nice soft deep navy blue.

1hr walk at 34deg
Just walked my dog and kinda forgot I had the hat on until I got home. I had hoped it was a bit thicker than it is but it did a nice job. Texture isn't as pronounced as in pics, looks and feels more like a woven thermal shirt made of petroleum product than wool.

Perfect fpr winter outdoor sports
Purchased as a gift for an outdoor runner, he loves this hat for long-distance running in the snowy winter. He says it keeps him warm even when the hat is wet with sweat (eww).

Thin merino wool - simple and warm.
This hat is so thin my husband opted to wear it under his hard hat on the job site, it was too itchy with the constant rubbing of the mechanism inside his hard hat, but he loves it for everyday wear and under hoodies. I have washed it and dried it twice already and no shrinkage like a typical wool beanie!

スマートなキャップ
良かったところ。薄く蒸れにくいので冬のランニングに最適です。裏タグが縫い付けてあるのでリバーシブルで使う場合はタグを外さないといけない。
