Great Project for Kids
Oh my word, this is an awesome toy. Put aside the fact that you are buying a box and concentrate on the fact that this could keep your children busy for hours upon hours upon hours. My children have spent copious amounts of time:- coloring the house (inside and out)- putting stickers on the house- playing house inside the house- playing mailman with the open-and-close mailboxesAnother great feature is the windows and doors. Two doors! This is very good when you have two kids, because someone is always blocking one of the doors, but there is another way to exit. Our house has seen quite a lot of abuse over the past few months, but it's still standing. I think for twenty dollars that we paid for it, it was an excellent value in the amount of time the children have already spent on it. Once you put aside that you're paying for a box -- a box you have to assemble -- and a box that comes within a box within a box.

Great rainy week activity
I bought this and had it sent to Grandma's in advance of our two-week trip with our 3- and 5-year-old boys. One rainy day we brought it out and set it up in the garage (but it could just as easily be set up inside the house if you have space for it). The boys had a blast with it over the next several days. They colored it, they moved in furniture, they produced a rug, they made mail to put in the mail slots, they colored it some more. Because there are two distinct sides, two mail slots, two windows, two doors, each boy had his own side of the house and there was no arguing (really!) about how to decorate, who would get to use the window, the mail slot, the door, etc. Even better, it was sturdy enough to withstand two energetic boys. And it stimulated their creativity and imagination.I see that it now costs almost twice what I paid for it. I would not buy it at the current price. I was reluctant to buy it at 25 dollars -- after all it's really just a glorified cardboard box -- but after we saw how entertaining it was for them, it seemed worth it. At the same time, my kids are also happy playing for hours with a giant chunk of amorphous cardboard, so if you have a big cardboard box at your disposal, turn it over to your wild ones and let their imagination run wild and pocket the money you would have spent for this. I would buy it again for Grandma's if the price is right and if Grandma doesn't have some spare cardboard boxes lying around. So 5 stars for the idea, but 4 stars for the price for a chunk of cardboard.

Tips for making the house last much longer
We got the Discovery Kids Cardboard Color and Play Play House for our three kids, 2 year old twins and a six year old. It has been a hit, keeping them entertained for hours on end as they color its sides and go in and out of its two entrances.Sizewise, it's pretty large but perfect for a playroom. An adult and two kids can comfortably fit inside, and its high enough for our oldest to stand up inside. To make it last longer, we reinforced all joints, sides of doors and windows (along "hinges"), as well as the perimeter along the bottom with duct tape and so far, it has withstood a month of use and abuse from the kids. Without the duct tape, it will last 1-2 weeks before the kids tear it (this is our second playhouse). If you go for the cardboard house, make sure you get Crayola Washable Crayons 16-pk. or Crayola 12ct Washable Markers for coloring it, and help your kids out if possible just to keep an eye on them. We didn't and they ended up drawing on the sofas as well - fortunately it came out with just water. Stay away from the Melissa & Doug Jumbo Triangular Crayons which are made of plastic, are permanent and do not wash out.

Fun family project!
Gave our soon to be 2yr. granddaughter this over Thanksgiving and she loves it. Set up was very quick, only had to look at the instructions briefly once. We bought the crayola washable markers and had fun coloring it in. The broad markers would probably be better for the large areas. I would recommend you placing the house on a carpet so it doesn't slid so much, and also taping the corners and threshold of the inside bottom flaps to keep it squared. It will take a few days to color it, but hey that's a family project. It's also big, managed to get 2 adults and child in all at once! We all had fun!

I should have bought the $35 cardboard house
Don't get me wrong, the desing of this house is wonderful. Nonetheless, the first day it was mounted at home, parts started to break. We fixed them with strong plumber tape, but...come on, the first day? The only reason we didn't return the thing is that my son had already crayoned parts of it. THIS HOUSE IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY BEING CHARGED FOR IT. Save some, and go with the $35 dollar one.

Kids Love it!
Kids la la love it. What kid doesn't like making a fort with blankets and bringing in their stuff? With this they have their private space tucked out of view, AND they get to color it! they're *always* more space to draw on and color. VERY helpful to have TWO DOORS, so the two little ones can easily run through, and each decorated and labeled their own door. It was the hit of Christmas - I suggest ensuring you also buy fresh markers and stickers so they're ready to start their fun! We had so much fun even writing messages and slipping them through the mailbox slots and popping through the windows for conversation.Great packaging complete with a handle on the top of the box to help carry it around when its folded up. Pretty easy to set up, but can't imagine this would really stand firm and tall and not fall apart without some help from your friend packing tape.I would recommend this as a 'large' gift to anyone with young kids.

Sturdy play house you can color
Sent this to my granddaughter. It's big enough to fit her child size table and chairs inside. She loved coloring this with her mother. It was a family affair and everyone enjoyed this. It has been up for weeks of play now and there have been no issues.

Waste of money
I wish I could have told you different ,but I am very disappointed with this Item.poorly made did not last.did not meet my expectation.I like shopping at amazon, but as I said very disappointed.waste of money .I could have bought something much better than this for my grand child ‘s birtday .this is literally as sturdy as a cardboard box. My 2 year old grand daughter played with it one night and the next day we had to throw it out in the garbage because it was falling apart from the windows and doors from opening and closing “too much”. We even tried reinforcing it by glueing with hot glue and it was collapsing on the bottom. As I said I wish I could have had said differently.
