Dr Grabow Grand Duke Textured Tobacco Pipe

Over the years, I have purchased numerous Dr. Grabow pipes from Amazon, and this is by far my worst experience to date. First, the pipe that I ordered (as advertised) was supposed to have a textured finish, but instead it had a blotched smooth finish. Pipe smoker know that a smooth finish pipe burns hot, and since Dr. Grabow pipes are thinner than most, it’s impossible to hold the pipe in my hand while smoking. In addition, where the stem attaches to the bowl, it is loose and will not tighten which causes a leak and the pipe won’t stay lit it looks like this pipe may have been taken out of a trash bin no mailed to me as the package had been previously opened. Although I realize that Dr. Grabow pipes aren’t as expensive as more higher quality pipes, I’ve had good luck with them over the years. But, after paying $40 for this pipe, I expected to receive the pipe that I ordered (as explained above), and one that didn’t have any flaws to the point that it can’t even be used. As such, I was terribly disappointed with my order, to the point that I can no longer trust Amazon sellers to deliver my correct order, as well as not shipping a quality product. My order history with Amazon will reveal that I’m a longtime and very frequent customer. Since this pipe wasn’t what I ordered and also defective, Inhad to order a replacement pipe bat a cost of $45. As a disabled senior, I’m unable to shop in stores, and I have to rely on online shopping to purchase most of my needs,

The bowl seems super small but it's just that there's less material outside the bowl making it pretty stinking light. Can puff....and work.It's long, light and holds like a half cig of tobacco.

I have only smoked Dr Grabow pipes so I can't compare it to any others. This little pipe is just right for a light, quick 5 or 10 minute smoke. It's light, with a comfortable stem, just the right length. I like the textured bowl, makes it easier to grip. The pipe came pre-seasoned so that was a plus. The outside diameter of the bowl is about that of a U.S. Quarter. Even with a filter it draws very good for me. yes I would recommend.

The bottom of the bowl charred easily only after a few smokes. It hasn't charred more since, but I now need to keep an eye out for it in order so that it doesn't break.

I have purchased Grand Duke pipes before and this version had a smaller bowl than I expected. OK, but just takes more filling over time.

Upon purchase, a tobacco supply house sent me the "Smooth Bowl" (Dr. Grabow) instead of the textured. A month later, it was falling apart & seemed to be made out of Inferior Materials altogether! Amazon sent the correct textured pipe. 3mnths later, it's still in good shape. I'm surprised!
