Bestway Wall Mount Surface Skimmer | Cleans Above Ground Pools | Attracts Leaves & Floating Debris

I added this skimmer to my pool filtration system to help keep bugs and leaves at bay. It is getting the job done well. It is a nice big size and adjustable in height. Very easy install. The basket floats to the top rather than getting sunken under the water like others. Overall a good skimmer!

Year 3 with my pool and can’t believe I’m just now getting this. I have a best way 20’ pool from a big box store. For year 2 I upgraded the filter to a 2800 gph sand filter. I have 2 inlets for the pump and I was able to use the connector from this kit to hook up to one of the grey plastic inlets that came with the pool. I had to remove a Philips head screw to allow the screen to spin off. I keep the water level low so my kid can touch bottom but this was able to reach low enough to perform skimmer function. It’s been doing great with the pump I have, even with that second inlet open. I can restrict the other inlet if I really need a vortex in the skimmer but that doesn’t seem necessary. It connected to the metal rail with no issue.

Needed a skimmer for our above ground pool and this does a reasonably good job. Only complaint is that once hooked up, you can't open up your sand filter. The only way to do this is to either detach the skimmer from the water intake so you can plug the inlet, or remove it from it's mounting position and hold it above the water line. Very inconvenient.

Okay, so it does do what it’s built to do, but it ain’t that great. I have an 18’x48” pool with a 2600GPH sand filter pump and salt water clorinator. They recommend you plugging off one of the intake ports on your pool, and that absolutely does not work. It starved my pump to a point it works at barely 50%. The suction on the skimmer is fine as long as debris runs within 6” of the skimmer itself. And if debris doesn’t fall down into the skimmer basket, or get sucked down, it swirls around the top, eventually filling up with debris and doesn’t collect anything else. So while it DOES work, it doesn’t work that great. It’s probably worth the $20 just to collect debris that gets near the skimmer itself, you’ll still need to do quite a bit of skimming by hand if there are any overhead trees nearby. We have the dreaded Helicopters falling and twirling all over the place right now. There aren’t many options for these pools, without cutting a huge hole and reinforcing the hole with stitching to put a much better slimmer on.

This skimmer is a very simple design, easy to set up, seems to be a good quality product. I added the filter socks to my purchase since I get a fair amount of leaves, tiny gnats and bugs and felt it would be best to keep them out of the sand filter. Well worth the money! Rudy

Have this on an Intex above-ground pool with a slightly upgraded pump filter but nothing crazy. This has completely removed skimming the pool as a job for me, and for that I am grateful. It does a magnificent job keeping the top of the water clean and grabbing all that little stuff that would normally sink down. If you hate your pool and all the work that goes into it but have to keep it going to keep the family happy, this is a good tool to make your life easier.

So I have purchased this skimmer a total of 4 times now from Amazon. All from warehouse deals because of the extreme price scalping going on. The retail price for this should be about $25 US. Only one order has been successful to work with my 18' Coleman Pool. The first order was lost in shipping and was eventually refunded. The second one came in and has been doing a great job skimming the pool. Initially it struggled with the stock pump, but after a planned upgrade to the bestway sand filter, it is doing a good job on keeping up with my pool underneath a shade tree. This order included both the Metal Frame Bracket (the one with plastic screws to attach directly to Coleman/Bestway metal frame) AND the blue sidewall screw-on part that the included hose connects to. Please be advised that their are two sizes for this blue part, one that SHOULD come with this bestway skimmer, and another size that comes with the "Bestway 58234 Above Ground Pool Cleaning & Maintenance Accessories Set Kit" These blue male screw-on adapter barbs are designed to fit 1.5" and 1" ID hoses. The Skimmer requires the larger 1.5" barb, which screws onto the gray plastic screen after removing the outer part that is screwed in place (requires removing tiny phillips screw before unscrewing.) My third order of this skimmer (from Amazon Warehouse) arrived a couple days ago, and was missing 2 essential parts. The metal pool frame bracket (The first order correctly included both this metal pool frame bracket with plastic screws *pictured* and one for inflatable pools that just hangs over the side, and will not work with metal frame pools. The other part that was missing was the 1.5" blue screw on male hose adapter that the skimmer hose connects to. Since I already received an order with ALL the included parts, it's easy to tell that these two parts are missing. I wanted to use this as a 2nd functioning skimmer so that I wouldn't need to empty the basket as often. I've put in a 4th order now and hope that it will arrive with all the needed parts. Amazon has done an OK job or refunding the other orders, but be very wary of 3rd party sellers (or scalper prices above $45).
