I own an older carl rt-200.. it says i need mat rm-12 but the one i have measures about 14 1/2"...is this the right one?

Probably. I just measured this mat and it is closer to 14 3/4 inches. Instead of saying it is a "12 inch cutting mat", a clearer description would be that it is a 14.75 inch mat that works for a 12 inch trimmer. If your mat is 14.5 inches, I would check the indentation where your mat goes, and see if you have about a quarter inch extra for this mat to fit.

Does this fit Fiskar's old model 9580 with the black bar?

I have an older Fiskars model with a black bar but don't know what the model # is. The "Carl RM-12" cutting mats fit and work, but the "Fellowes Safecut Rotary Trimmer 12-Inch Replacement Cutting Mats (5411502)" also fit and stay in place better without being glued. They are both a little thicker than the original mats, but work nicely, and are both available on Amazon.

It is the part of the rotary paper cutter that sits between the board and the blade. The mat is usable on 4 sides (left and right, top and bottom) and so lasts for quite some time unless you do a great deal of cutting. Hope this answers your question!

I need a mat that is 3/8" width (0.375). will this fit in an old swingline rotary trimmer? if not, does anyone know where i can buy one? many thanks.

I don't how old you are talking but my cutter is at least 10 years old and the mat I bought on line fit fine .
