Great sound and craftsmanship
The Mosaic Folk is a one-of-a-kind model in the Seagull line. Although it is an OM size, it still has a great bass response and well balanced treble. The workmanship is fantastic, from the joinery to the finish. The Mosaic Folk looks and sounds as good as guitars costing significantly more.

Beautiful Guitar in Sound and Appearance
If you are not familiar with the Seagull name, you should check them out. Seagull is a sub-brand of Godin. These guitars are hand-made in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada. The quality of their work truly is incredible. In my opinion, they are on the same level as Taylor, Martin, Gibson and Breedlove -- without the hefty price tag.I bought the Mosaic Folk a few years a go. It is the best guitar I have owned to this point. I have never had an issue with it, and it has aged amazingly. Although, it does not have the projection with it's smaller body and cedar top like you would find in a Taylor, I have found it is still well able to fill a room with great sound. I remember reading the description on Guitar Center's website before I bought it, and it described the guitar as "ideal for intimate settings." I think that pretty well sums this guitar up.It has a great lush warm tone that would leave even the most critical ear satisfied. What I appreciate the most about Seagull guitars is they seem to spend the majority of their efforts in making a guitar that sounds great. There are next to no frills on any of their guitars. I like it that way. Although, that isn't to say that this guitar isn't aesthetically pleasing as well. It's just that the guitar's features are understated. It is adorned with abolone shells on the Seagull emblem both on the headstock and 12th fret as well as the bridge pin dots. The bridge is simple but very nice, and the headstock is very unique. At first, I wasn't sure if I would be a fan of the headstock shape and size, but I've grown accustomed to it's quirky design. I've found the shape and size, in fact, serve a purpose. They say it is designed to improve tuning stability. I think they're right. All in all, if you are willing to venture beyond Martin, Taylor and Gibson, I think you will find Seagull has a ton to offer. Their guitars deserve every bit as much respect as the grandfather brands we've all grown up around. I hope this sheds some much needed light on this great guitar.

Great Guitar!
I just bought a Seagull Artist Mosaic Folk from a music store. I currently own an older Seagull Artist Mosaic dreadnaught and two Martins. I love this guitar. It came from the factory with a beautifully low action. It does not need a setup. It has great sound and a great feel. It really does look, play and sound like a guitar that would cost twice as much. I know, because one of my Martins is the same size and style and lists for $2,400. This Seagull definitely holds its own against my Martin. The Artist series is different from Seagull's other lines. It has solid wood on the top, back and sides and plays like a dream. I cannot speak to the other, less expensive, Seagull models. If you are ready to step up to a nicer guitar and would like to have a guitar that plays like a $2,000 guitar, but only costs $1,000, this is the guitar for you. Note: the current model has different electronics that have the controls hidden in the sound hole - very nice.

Well built, beautiful to look at, well-balanced sound.
A beautiful guitar - not ornate, but classy. The sound is clear, resonant, and balanced. The fingerboard and Bridge on my 2015 model is EBONY! It looks gorgeous. The bridge pins no longer have the mother of pearl inserts because of U.S. import restrictions. Though not shown in most photos, it does come with a nice gold strap pin at the top of the body as well as on the bottom of the body where the amp plugs in. The pickup system until mid-2015 was a combination under saddle piezo PLUS a soundhole microphone that you could adjust by phase to get rid of feedback. This pickup system was the "QII" in the product name. According to the Seagull guitars site, they no longer use the QII combo and have instead an L.R. Baggs Element piezo-only setup. NOTE: All guitars I've looked at seem to come from the factory with a high action, which I've learned is a common factory setup for guitars shipped around the world to places with very different temperatures and humidity. I had it professionally set up - as you should anyway - and it plays so easily and sounds even better!

Bright Sound, Beautifully Constructed.
I own one of these beauties. I was fortunate to purchase it used, in perfect condition, and it has become one of my favourite guitars. I alternate between playing this one and my Martin D16GT. The Seagull has a brighter sound than the Martin, with less bottom end. When amplified, it sounds fabulous. The QII electronics system is superb. It is an easy playing guitar. When I first bought it, the action was too high, but since having a competent guitar tech adjust the neck, it has been extremely comfortable and eminently playable. The finish is beautiful. I highly recommend this acoustic/electric guitar.

which is relatively light and easy to carry
I'm in Canada for a few months. My wife and I both play, and back home we always have quite a few guitars around (I build guitars for a hobby, and those guitars stick around for a while). Anyway, we decided to get a Canadian made instrument while we were here. I researched some and found this Seagull model, which is relatively light and easy to carry. I had no expectations beyond a quality instrument (for this price range, this should be a given) but I was pleasantly surprised. Despite it's smallish size, it's a huge sounding guitar. The action was a bit high out of the box but that's how it is with most acoustic guitars anyway; you're supposed to set it up (or have it set up) to your preference.Once you build a few guitars, there's no more unicorn dust involved in what makes a great guitar. Barring a major structural problem, all guitars can be set up to play like butter. Beyond that, every guitar has its own distinctive voice even if make and model will limit variation to some degree. The instrument we got is easily a keeper for us and sounds as good as any acoustic guitar I have heard. Highly recommended. Oh and one last thing: Love the TRIC case that it came in. It's lighter than most proper gig bags yet offers almost as much protection as a hard case.
