KEISSCO Wine Opener Compact Vertical Corkscrew Wine Bottle Opener with Built-in Foil Cutter

This vertical corkscrew is surprisingly good for the price. I purchased to replace a Brookstone vertical corkscrew I had for several years. I originally tried to purchase another Brookstone, but they are ‘currently unavailable’. The vertical design gives good leverage, so the cork comes out smoothly without any twisting, pulling, or fighting with the bottle. Overall construction feels solid and comfortable in the hand. For the price, this is a great wine opener that feels more premium than expected. Glad I bought it.

Easy to use. Works on all size bottles. Not sure about the claimed built-in foil cutter since I use my own foil cutter.

Very functional. Easy to operate

The corkscrew opener has a good ergonomic design. You hold the bottle while you’re holding the opener. It all works very slick and pulls the cork out without any issues. I have opened three bottles. In each case, the cork came out of the bottle perfectly and the device spat out the cork without any issues. The only deficiency that I have experienced is with the built-in foil cutter. It is finicky about the bottle shape. The bottle seems to need to be the right shape or it won’t cut the foil. In one case, I realized that the cutter was below the cleft of the bottle top and it was not cutting in deep enough because of that. I rose it up and it cut through the foil just fine. I was unsuccessful on a couple of other bottles that had sloping tops, though. I’ve only tried 3 bottles so far. The foil cutter worked on one out of three.

worked well for a number of months, though after a while it seemed to slip in the corkscrew and I had to wrestle with it to get cork out. Well, yesterday the handle actually broke off and looking at the inside material, it does not strike me as solid metal or whatever. Quite granular, but regardless I found out its useful life (about 8 months). UPDATE May 2026- supplier saddened by premature failure and has offered a refund and a replacement. Outstanding follow up so I change review rating accordingly.

My wife bought me a Houdini bottle opener last year and I was impressed by that until a small plastic chunk fell out of the mechanism. I found that was a regular flaw that usually ended the lives of those devices. After a bit of shopping around I found this one. It is about the same price as the Houdini so I figured it would be similar. This is so much better built. The action is smooth and the handle glides nicely. It is heavier and the parts that are plastic are a higher quality dense resilient plastic. I've only opened one bottle with this so far but it was a pleasure to open. It also comes with a built-in foil cutter which I bungled with my first attempt by not knowing exactly how far down the capsule I should cut so I wiggled a little and it got sloppy but that's user error and I've already learned how to do it better. It's 11:00 AM right now and way too early to open something to drink. I'll find something heavy to decant until dinner tonight that way I can open another bottle right now anyway!

Does the job beautifully for a great price. Easy as pie. I just wish it would come with a box.

Bought to replace a Pulisty that broke. Looks like it should do the job, maybe without breaking!

Das Beste, was es im Bereich Korkenzieher gibt! Da stimmt alles, der Korken geht wie Butter aus der Flasche! Ich freue mich seit einigen Jahren jedes Mal wie ein Kind auf Weihnachten, wenn ich (als Nicht-Weintrinker…) meiner Frau oder bei Besuch eine Flasche aufmachen darf!
