Good to keep a cat out of cabinet drawers.
I bought these to keep my cat from getting into cabinet drawers in my new apartment. They're wonderful -- although my cat doesn't agree, and he spent a few days sulking because he could no longer get the drawers open. Before applying the locks, I watched the videos on the BabyKeeps web site, as much to see how to get the locks off as how to apply them in the first place. Application is really simple, once you figure out how to adjust the length of the strips (hint: the top of the sliding lock comes off), and I also figured out that to cut the thick plastic strips, a serrated knife works better than ordinary scissors. I've also found it easy to pop the end lock to get into a drawer myself, and to refasten it again afterward. For one set of drawers between an under-the-sink cabinet and a wall, where the strips can't go around the corner of a cabinet, I was able to mount one end on the cabinet door and the other on the drawer, leaving enough length of plastic strip to open the cabinet door but still hold the drawer shut when the cabinet is closed. As for removing the locks, I was glad I'd watched the video, because I realized I'd put one of the locks on crooked (effective but unsightly), and I wanted to replace it. Sawing between the lock and the adhesive with dental floss really does work, and the remaining adhesive really does peel off easily without damaging the paint on the cabinets. I highly recommend these locks. My cat still disagrees.

Works Great and Looks Good Too!
Finally I found baby proofing cabinet locks that don’t just work well, which is obviously most important, but they look good too. I have wood cabinets in my kitchen and looked around for some that would kind of blend in but couldn’t find any so purchased the Safety 1st brand. They worked fine but they were just so darn ugly. Big and bulky and white which really stood out and I just hated them. So when I stumbled upon these safety latches from BabyKeeps and saw that they came in both white and BROWN, I purchased immediately. I am SO GLAD I did. First, they were super easy to install. I watched the video on their website and made sure I cut the strap to the length we needed just as they suggested. Plus, they are nice and slim, not like the other big bulky ones I had. And best of all, they are not the first thing you notice when you are in my kitchen…they blend in pretty well. And they even sent me a bonus gift in the package, that was a nice surprise and something useful too! Kudos to BabyKeeps. I hope they offer some other products in the future, I will be sure to purchase from them again!

Needs Quality Control Improvements
The media could not be loaded. I like the functionality of these locks and that they blend in to my wood furniture. I have to note that 4 out of the 6 pack I bought of the brown and 2 of the 6 pack of white don't actually secure they way they should on the adjustable end. It's simple to cut the strap to the desired length and then slide the cap back on the adjustable end, but that cap slides freely open with little pressure on the defective ones I received. The cap is suppose to click into place and then not be removable, making the adjustment permanent. The cap is small and I worry that little ones could slide it off while exploring (and it then posses a choking hazard). I was upset, but decided that rather than return them I would secure them with gorilla glue. I will say that for the price this product should work as intended. However, they are secure now and I am happy with the end result. I will inspect them regularly. The free gift that comes with this product is a door stop that also poses a choking hazard. It is a snail shaped door stop that sticks on the edge of the door and turns up or down to be out of use and then out to catch the door before fingers are pinched. It's cute. But made of hard plastic that will dent the wood on the door frame. I tried it, but will be removing it. Also, if you decide to use it please be sure to put it at the top of the door, rather than where it can be reached by even older children who might play with it. If tugged on even lightly it will come apart into three pieces; all of which are small enough to pose a hazard, but especially the little gray piece on the top which is about the size of a dime and will come completely loose.Overall, I will not purchase any other items from this company unless it is evident that their quality control measures are greatly improved.

Childproofing is not cute. But these are!
So far these are great, and I really enjoy that they come in brown to at least appear as though there was an effort in matching the decor. I was a little disappointed with the extent of effort needed for removal, as I was under the impression they could be removed easily, such as the 3M sticky hooks. Instead, I had to watch a video on their website about a 7-10 minute blow-drying process. I won't be removing them anytime soon, but I hope it won't damage my furniture when it does come time. Also, it is worth nothing again and again that once you snap the adjustable piece into place, you will be unable to move it again. It might be helpful to have a more prevalent warning regarding this because I was among the idiots who locked one into place without knowing I would be stuck with that length, ultimately deeming the one strap unusable. In all, these are super cute (as cute as childproofing can be), but I wish they would be more easily removable for the higher price-point. They are super effective and stick great so far. My 19-month-old has not figured out the mechanism and hopefully never will! I definitely recommend these safety straps.
