Should be renamed the "Bread Boss"
For the money, this is a decent pot. With the addition of a cast iron handle, it makes a fantastic bread oven. As you might expect, at this price point, the cast iron is not super smooth inside or out, but it is smooth enough to use as a bread oven. I lightly sanded the interior of the shallow "lid", washed dried and re seasoned it so I wouldn't have to use parchment paper for baking bread. The deep base of the pot was outfitted as a lid with a 10" cast iron handle, held in place with round head brass machine screws and brass lock nuts. This required carefully drilling two threaded holes into the cast iron for the screws. If you're looking for a large bread oven that doesn't cost a lot, you may want to consider this. It's a great option for baking extra large loaves. No parchment paper and NO sticking! Be forewarned, this is a heavy pot! To keep it seasoned, it's getting washed after each use, dried and lightly coated with oil before putting away. I couldn't be any happier.

Great as a bread cloche but that’s not what it is
This is a pretty hefty cast iron roaster. Pay attention to the measurements and don’t expect it to be something it’s not. (My photos show depth, width, and length) It’s narrow and long, and heavy. Make sure to properly season it like all cast irons and don’t let water sit on it for long. It does well over open flame does a good job roasting meats and veggies that actually fit inside it. Now people rating this poorly because it didn’t work for their bread journey is a little unfair. I have been using it for over a year and a half— and yes, I mainly use it for making bread. Its intended purpose is not for that, but yeah, it can be used for it with some adjustments. I turn it upside down and bake on top of the lid, and close it with the bottom part. I have make-shift foil handles, that I loop through the actual handles. Just be careful because foil can only be so strong. Use common sense and don’t burn yourself. So far, it holds in steam really well and takes ice cubes without cracking. My batards are typically made with 350g flour, so anything more than that, you’d have to make sure the dough is really narrow.

I love it.
I bought the roaster to make sourdough bread, and it is the perfect size for baking either an oval loaf or two small round loaves. The pot is heavy, solid, and well-made. It features a beautiful traditional cast-iron design. With my extensive experience using this type of pot, I can tell you that it’s essential to clean and dry it right after each use with hot and light soapy water. Avoid leaving it wet overnight to prevent rust. A pot like this can last a lifetime. I have just ordered a second one.

Great for sourdough
The cast iron Dutch oven is a culinary game-changer! Its robust construction ensures even heat distribution, resulting in perfectly cooked dishes every time. The versatile design seamlessly transitions from stovetop to oven, making it ideal for a variety of recipes, including the perfect sourdough bread. With outstanding heat retention, it's energy-efficient and requires lower heat settings. Its timeless durability and one-pot convenience make it a kitchen essential. Whether you're a novice cook or a seasoned chef, the cast iron Dutch oven delivers exceptional performance, making it a highly recommended investment! The only thing I would change is the handle placement. Overall, Great !

Terrific for sourdough bread baking and more!
I wanted an oblong cast iron pan for baking batard sourdough bread loafs. This was perfect. While it arrived pre-seasoned I did apply a seasoning blend of beeswax, flaxseed oil and coconut oil. It seasoned perfectly. I baked my first loaf this morning and I’m thrilled with the results. This will also work wonderfully for making roasts. The cover fits very well on my cast stove to use as a griddle. It’s a very versatile cast iron piece that will last generations. Worth the investment as this piece is very reasonably priced. Like all good cast iron pieces, this is heavy.

Well made but seasoning could be better
Good quality, heavy duty. My first use was using the lid as a griddle to bake some stuff at a fairly high temperature. Worked well, but in dealing with a bit of burnt-on residue with a plastic scrubber, not bearing down particularly hard, the seasoning rubbed off, exposing bare metal. Re-seasoned the lid & roaster. It's performed well since. I couldn't be happier with its performance once it was properly seasoned.

Perfect for Baking
I will admit, I am probably not using this for it’s intended purpose of BBQ - after all, the brand is Pit Boss. I use the cast iron for bread making. I was looking for a bigger cast iron to bake bigger loafs and this one was perfect! You can see from the video how well the load came out! I have not noticed a metallic smell or taste from the cast iron as another person has stated. Not saying the wrong but I haven’t run into it. I’ll tell you what this thing retains the heat. It took about an hour for the cast-iron to fully cool down after baking at 480 to 500°. The other thing that was awesome about this product so far what’s the price. My advice is to not buy it right away. When I first added the cast-iron to my wish list it was $50 and then during the massive shut down so we had the price skyrocketed to nearly $100. Now that I went back down to 58 I decided that that was an OK price for how big this thing is. You will probably need some muscles to lift this as it is heavier than my other Dutch oven cast-iron that I have. All in all I get there’s a five out of five for now and if anything changes I will update my review!

Me encanta como hornea, sin embargo el Poderla abrir en el Horneado es todo un reto, el diseño de las agarraderas es malísimo y se dificulta poniendo en riesgo de un accidente
