Like nothing I've ever purchased before...
If you want a wine opener which is so elegant it is down-right sexy, while also being startlingly functional, this is the only wine-opener you will ever purchase the rest of your life. I am shocked to say this is one of my favorite purchases I have ever made on Amazon. Here's why:Initial thoughts:I buy on Amazon all the time, but this is different. I have almost never purchased a product which looked so elegant that, upon opening the box, I didn't even want to take it out of its packaging because I didn't want to disturb it. Nothing prepared me for this product. I don't know why it isn't going for $150, because I can imagine it selling for that amount easily. The packaging alone must have cost an exorbitant amount. This gift would say "I love you" to any woman on the face of the earth who knew what a wine bottle was. I am not joking when I say this is my favorite Amazon purchase I've ever made. I have it sitting next to me (yes, I put it BACK in its packaging because it is so beautiful), and it looks and feels like a millionaire's item.Utility:Regardless of my desire to keep this little beauty in its restful state of elegance, I had to test it to see if it its beauty matched its utility. It is not only INCREDIBLY well-made, but it is so much easier to use than other wine-openers it is unreal. Seriously, how is this thing so cheap on Amazon?!I will buy this for gifts, friends, and family. It is THAT beautiful. If you want a wine opener, this is for you. Period.

A beautiful corkscrew with a MAJOR flaw......
I am sad to write this review considering Jill (one of the owners) was very nice and wanting to please via email when I contacted her. Unfortunately the screw is the 'Achilles Tendon' to this opener. The opener looks beautiful and initially works beautifully..... and then things start to change. You will notice the cork screw starts to unwind/elongate. Eventually the opener will destroy all corks because of this flaw and it becomes a struggle to open anything. I purchased two of these openers and the flaw was present in both (as well as 2 replacements). I contacted Zazzol (Jill) on the weekend and she responded quickly requesting that Amazon send me two replacements. Sadly, the two replacement have the same defect. One cork screw was slowly beginning to stretch and then I hit a dry cork....... the screw elongated severely and is no longer functional. My other replacement still works but is gradually unwinding/elongating. I am trying to be super careful and if there is any resistance I will remove the screw and switch openers to one that will not fail. The saddest part of this beautiful opener ordeal is that Jill is truly customer service oriented and is willing to do whatever is needed to make you happy. I did not contact her again as I do not want another corkscrew that will fail again. If there is ever an improved screw please contact me.

I didn't get great results...
I ordered this product despite it having some pretty suspicious-looking reviews (check out the other items reviews by the same reviewers and draw your own conclusion). It arrived as advertised. A nice looking, polished piece of silver metal in the shape of a bird. Pretty elegant looking on the counter. It had a nice weight and felt nice in my hand, too... that is, until I used it. The end of the bird that looks like the head was rounded and felt fine. But as I twisted, the tail end, which is pointy, didn't feel as comfortable. Further, it required a fair amount of effort to remove the cork, and every other turn was gripping the pointy end. Having a stubby top, it doesn't provide much leverage. It just wasn't a great experience.I drink a lot of higher end wine and have been using lever-style openers for at least 15 years. We drink wine 4 or 5 times a week, so I was able to try this opener on dozen or so bottles before making my conclusion. I used it on mostly younger wine, and mostly natural corks. In so doing, I broke 2 corks and chewed up part of a third. I can't tell you the last time I broke a cork prior to using this product, especially on young wine. Each time I used the product I tried to carefully center the opener and twist evenly throughout the process.I've opened thousands of bottles of wine over the years and I just didn't get good results with this product. It wasn't nearly as easy or efficient as other openers I've used. In fact, I would prefer to use even a good quality waiter's corkscrew over this, as the waiter's corkscrew gives a longer top and more leverage, thus making the opening process easier.Your mileage may vary, but mine was 2 stars due to the price/performance ratio. One could argue adding a third star for its appearance, but my primary concern was functionality.

Revised Review
My initial review was one star due to the screw stretching out while attempting to remove a cork.Based on just the customer service I received after the problem occurred I would give this product three stars; it turned out to be a no risk purchase. After a new one was delivered I gave it another shot. I found you have to be careful to hit center of the cork as it is easy to misalign. This may have been the issue but I'm not really sure. However it did ok removing the cork and it seems that should continue to work fine. The only reason I have not given it a full 5 stars is that I think a higher gauge metal on the screw would make it better.

Beautiful but not easy to use
It's true that the design is striking, but I find it quite difficult to operate, possibly because the pretty handle is hard to turn. I'm a strong guy, but it takes a lot of elbow grease to remove a tight cork. It's also awkward to remove the cork from the screw. I bought it to replace a Screwpull which had broken, but the Screwpull was easier to use. I'm finding myself using an old waiter's corkscrew instead of the Zazzol. However, I must say that customer support is outstanding. The makers of this product contacted me to do everything possible to satisfy me. Given that, I don't think this purchase would be much of a gamble if you're interested in trying it.
