Super Durable, Powerful, SmartPhone with Fun UFO finding Cameras
The second you pick up this camera you can feel the high quality put into it. It's very heavy for a phone. But, as it is a military spec phone being water proof, shock proof, and dust proof, being heavy is a small price to pay. The speed of this camera is amazing using Android Pie (Android version 9), 6 GB of RAM and a ton of storage space with 128GB of ROM. Easy to migrate all my apps from my old phone. Plus I added a ton more and I still have more than 90GB of free space. Nice! The 48 megapixel camera uses a Sony Chip. And as you can see in the images I've provided, it does well. It has a few modes that are nice such as Bokeh and Night. And overall the performance is excellent. Why would anyone ever want a camera with a FLIR system on it? Well, that is not why I bought the camera. I bought it for the durability as sometimes my work finds me in the field under harsh conditions. But, the FLIR camera is a ton of fun. Also have to admit, the first thing I thought of to use the FLIR camera with was to find UFOs. So far, no luck. But, I have been taking pictures of weird looking clouds with the FLIR because...you never know! LOL! So basically what all this means is the FLIR camera is fun! The one pic of the face I took with the FLIR is me in total darkness. So, that proves it really is a FLIR and not just some software gimmick that uses a super-high ISO to achieve "night vision".I do not plan on taking it under water. I use my GoPro for that. But, it's nice to have the waterproofing as a failsafe protection in case it is dropped in the water...or a beer. (A friend of mine used to drop is waterproof camera in a beer and have someone call him. When it vibrated, bubbles would come off the phone! Haven't tried it yet.) But, I am an experienced all-around waterman. So, where I normally would not take a phone kayaking, now I would take this. And the lanyard receiver allows me to attach a small float to it, so if it does end up in the water, it will not sink to the bottom.Easy enough to keep my old number. I use My Family Plan through Wal-Mart. I have $40 a month, "All you can eat". My old sim was not made to fit in this camera. But, I bought a new SIM card set up and called them. The price of the new SIM pro-rated my account where a month was covered with the price of the card purchase. Easy to set up. And I opted to call for assistance which I recommend. Also put a 16GB card in it as this phone has space for a dual SIM or one SIM and one micro-SD card.My last camera lasted 5 years. And I was satisfied with what it was able to do until it was unable to update the OS and keep up with my banking aps. So, to me, this phone has more than I could even imagine I would ever need. Even some people at work with the latest iPhones and Samsungs were impressed with my phone. Granted, as I kept my last phone for 5 years says a lot about me not being worried about having the latest phone. But, if you are the kind of person who likes to buy a phone outright instead of paying a huge cell phone bill, (a thereby slowly pay for a retail priced phone), then you can't go wrong with this beast.Highly recommended if you have need of a phone upgrade and you have the initiative to find out what network your current phone runs on.I cannot review the facial recognition or fingerprint features as I do not use these. The accessories I bought for it include a silicon rubber case I bought from Kingfone. The case kit came with a thin piece of actual glass that adheres to the smartphone Gorilla Glass. No bubbles at all, and it's a nice little extra protection even though it's already a durable phone. Also bought a water proof carrier with a lanyard as the phone is only waterproof to about 5 feet. And the case is waterproof to 33 feet.

Not as waterproof as advertised, thanks to a cheap butt flap
Clarification on the headline: yes, it is very waterproof. At first. The problem - and by far the single most aggravating thing about this phone - is the cheap & stupid "butt flap." The charging port... oh c'mon, I'm not the only one who calls it a butt flap. Anyway, if god-forbid you ever have to plug in a cable, you'll regret it. The flap never closes tightly again. Never. It's literally just a flap of plastic. No, it's not a sliding or hinged door with a gasket - which would've been great. It's not even a remove/replace thing, which would be horrid, but would at least stand a chance of keeping water out of the charging port. Just a flap of rubber that's supposed to fit in the butt... er... hole. And it just does not want to stay there. If I really press it as hard as I can, I might get it to stay sort-of closed, but still with a bulge-out in the middle. It's "probably" still waterproof to an extent like that, but I wouldn't want to test it in a pool. Which I did - when I first got the phone, before I had a need to plug a cable into it. I've never gotten it to close flat again. And as I need to plug it in via cable for Android Auto, I'm not even trying anymore. Might even just rip it off; I mean, it's bound to snag and rip off eventually anyway.Other than that, the phone is great. Photos are fantastic, everything's lightning fast and gorgeous. I have had very little use for the infrared camera, but I like gimmicks, so... yeah it's cool. It is heavy, FYI. But it's also pretty tough. I haven't bothered with a screen protector or even a case. It rides in my pocket with keys, a lighter, even a nail clipper, and it's been dropped on rough asphalt face-down more than once, all without so much a scratch.Might want to avoid setting up face recognition unlock though. It sounded cool and all, but the phone has a habit of trying 1000 times to "see" me when I'm not even trying to use it, then complaining "too many attempts" when I do, forcing me to code in instead anyway.Overall, as long as you don't plan to drown it a lot and/or you won't likely ever plug in a cable, it's a great phone. But Blackview really, really, really needs to deal with that atrocious butt flap. I won't buy another Blackview phone until they do.
