Monroe Shocks & Struts Strut-Mate 904905 Suspension Strut Mount

I installed this on my 2001 VW New Beetle GLS 1.9L TDI recently. So far, it seems to work well. The big rubber mount seems slightly taller and beefier than the original equipment rubber mount that I took out. It fit perfectly and went in without a hitch. Taking out and re-installing the front strut assembly is a huge job, so if you're replacing your struts, grab a pair of these so that you can replace them at the same time with no additional effort. You don't want to end up having to take out your new struts again later just to replace the rubber mounts if you skimp and re-use the old ones. My old rubber mounts after 97K miles were still intact, but it was clear that the big rubber mount piece had been deformed from the original shape during all of those miles and Arizona heat.

Had two struts with a poorly designed upper mounts. I was set one strut because that was the only one I was having a problem with. When I saw I had a problem, I went ahead and pulled the other strut..had the same problem, although it was quiet, for now. I needed to get the car on the road, so I just ordered this one to hasten the job. Works perfectly, which I expect from Monroe.

The part that is pictured as of October 1 2010 is ACTUALLY 903983 (as stamped on the actual part in enlarged picture) I ordered this part number 904905 and received the Rubber Mount that fits on the metal plate, I ordered the Moog K90241 Macphereson Strut Mount Assembly too and the Monroe 904905 is the EXACT same part (the Monroe looks and feels of better quality to me)so be careful when ordering these parts for your Audi. This is for a single strut. Struts are generally changed in sets. Tried to verify what I was buying but got no response. Ad should specify that it is for one only.

easy install

this is a fine OEM replacement part. I wish vw had used a better strut mount design though.

Don't take a shortcut when replacing your struts !!! These are a high wear item that needs replaced also.

Installed this mount and it fit perfectly and made a world of difference in the ride.
