I replaced an old thermostat that is connected to my old furnace. The furnace is over 20 years old and works well for now and the old thermostat was good and simple. When the thermostat failed I decided to go digital and bought this thermostat. The electrical connections were a little bit different but the instructions on the thermostat were good enough for a clean installation. I set it up and it works great. It also interacted well with my old furnace. The interaction of an old furnace with a new thermostat is seamless. The only thing that I don't like is that the thermostat does not tell you when the batteries are failing. The thermostat operation just stops. I woke up one time and the temperature in the bedroom was cold. I felt like I was sleeping outdoors. Then I came down to look at the thermostat and noticed that the screen was blank. I replaced the batteries and then everything was good but it took the furnace a while to get the temperature back up. Overall this thermostat is good and a good buy.

Works great. Bought it as a replacement for the old one. Was exactly the same just cheaper in price than the one from Home you know where. lol. Works great. Controls the air conditioning and heat and you can get technical if you want to and set timers and all that but I just use it to turn on a/c and heat. Would recommend.

This is a very basic no thrills thermostat for a great price from a reputable company. My old one just stopped working mid winter and I found this with fast shipping. Whats great is it’s the exact same bracket as my previous model which is just like this but without the light up screen. Even the directions show the old model. With that one I always was using my phone flashlight so this is a nice upgrade. They’re otherwise almost identical. Yes, the screen has the weird marks on it but it doesn’t bother me. I’m just happy to be able to see it in the dark. The schedule is a cool feature. I don’t know if there’s an option to use less times for it though. Might be nice. Would I love mobile features. Yes. But at this price I wouldn’t expect it and at least I was able to avoid any drilling. Was able to install in 30 seconds because of it.

This review is for the Honeywell RTH2300B1038 5-2 Day programmable thermostat. It works OK (meaning that it turns my furnace on and off), but it has several drawback that don’t match its higher price point over less expensive thermostats that have greater functionality. Installation was not quite as straight forward as I expected, I had to cross reference some youtube videos to make sure I was correctly leaving the blue thermostat control wire disconnected. A few extra details in the instructions would be helpful here. The first thing I noticed when it was connected and powered up is that it had the same dark/dirty area in the lower right corner of the green backlight that everyone else has pointed out. Definitely some quality control issues during manufacturing here. There’s a confidence booster… This isn’t really a big deal, because I don’t need to use the backlight. The next think I noticed was the deal breaker for me: though there is a five-day and a two-day program, there is only a single group of settings that will apply to BOTH the heating and cooling cycles. During the winter, we keep our furnace set a bit lower, usually around 67 degrees. During the summer, we keep the air conditioning set higher, around 75 degrees. You cannot achieve these setting with this thermostat - you only get one set of settings. This means you have to reprogram the thermostat every time the season changes. Call me lazy, but this introduces hassle that wasn’t present with my previous thermostat. This means I would need to write down the settings in some place that I’ll be able to find six months later. No thanks. The next thing that I noticed is that this Honeywell thermostat causes my furnace to cycle much more frequently than the old thermostat did. This results in more wear and tear on your furnace and air conditioning compressors. There might be a place to adjust this behavior, broadening the temp spread for the turn-on and turn-off points, but given that it only has a single set of time/temp settings, I had already made up my mind to return it, so I didn’t bother looking through the manual to see if this is possible or not. If you find yourself in need of a new thermostat, save a few dollars and pick up a Lux Pro PSP511C thermostat that is much better. It has separate time/temp setting for heating and for cooling and you can easily adjust the on/off temp spread so your equipment cycles less often. This saves wear and tear and is also more energy efficient.

I found out to my cost that this unit will not switch 240v. This means, if you're trying to make your roomstat more intelligent, this is not the one for you. Thank you Amazon for a stress free return and refund.

No es el termostato mas bonito ni mas moderno, pero viene de buen tamaño y calidad, funciona prefecto y lo mejor es su precio . Fácil de instalar y de configurar. Excelente relación precio/calidad.

Simple to install and program plus they work great for unit heaters.
