Love a good retinol cream. Definitely a top anti-aging, skin health and radiance product. SPF is #1, then retinol with a good moisturizer. This is easy to use. If you are just starting, then aim to use it a 2-3x times a work your way up slowly to give your skin time to adjust. Use at night as sun breaks down retinol effectiveness; also night time is when our body is in regeneration and renewal mode so mind as well take advantage of the timing. Us a good SPF (no matter what), but especially if you decide to use retinol products during the day. Our skin is more sensitive to sun once we start using retinol.In the retinoid conversion process, retinol takes two steps to achieve the final usable active metabolite form, retinoic acid. This makes this a slightly more gentle, and slightly weaker form. This is not a bad thing. It basically means (especially when combined with the other ingredients) that this will not be instantly irritating- so less likely to cause red patches, dryness, discomfort. Basically a mid level retinol product, but still should be handled with care (avoid eye area!! dont use after professional exfoliation, etc). As a side, prescription retinol is in its final form, and it often intense with high initial irritation. Usually for those with severe acne.This consistency is a lotion serum hybrid. A pale yellow with nary a scent. Pump style tube. The has a good "slip"- ie it spreads easily, no dragging across skin to get it into place. There is dimethicone listed, so those who dont care for silicone will want to know that. It is not heavily used. I happen to like it in my skin care skin softening, moisture retaining, esp important with retinol use as retinol is drying), and my dry winter skin particularly appreciates it.Encapsulated retinol has been housed in a carrier system to protect its integrity and improve its ability to penetrate into the skin effectively. Exuviance Super Retinol Concentrate,This really feels like velvet on the skin. I normally don't tolerate retinol easily but this one is super smooth. My skin is reacting really well to it and in the two weeks I have been using it, I have noticed fine lines around my mouth fading a bit. I know that it is very minor but to have a few fewer lines there makes me feel better. I also noticed that tiny creases around my eyes have plumped up a bit. I had no irritation or redness with this either. Smooth as silk and softer than a baby's bottom.At first, I wasn't really all that impressed with this pale beige cream. I wasn't feeling any of the tightening that I usually feel with such products. Then I had a change of heart when I allowed my fingers to glide over the skin on my face. I couldn't believe what I was feeling. It was so incredibly soft and smooth. Such a luxurious feeling. Also, I noticed that it did take several minutes or so for the skin to look better. The finer lines had diminished, but it was the deeper lines where I noticed something I rarely see with most other products. Sure, they were still there, but they were so much flatter and less pronounced. It took years off of my visual life. Eventually, my face did feel firmer. Apparently, this cream takes a little longer to kick in than a lot of others that I've used before. You won't need to wait all day, but it should do its magic by the time you are ready to walk out of the door, if not well before.It comes in a tube with a pump. You'll need to prime the pump at first, but it soon comes out in small lines of cream. It did stop on me once or twice, but all you have to do is squeeze at the tube a tiny bit to move the cream up towards the pump.This cream comes at a hefty price, but is very good. Maybe you'll want to reserve it for special times if you find that it's a little too much out of your budget. The tube is sort of on the smallish side, so I doubt it would last all that long if used everyday. Only you can make that call whether it's doable for you.
