Kwikset 97402-729 Lido Entry Door Lever Featuring Smartkey Re-Key Security, Antique Brass

I had a perfectly good door knob (traditional) on an exterior door. On the outside I had mounted a retractable screen, which is a nifty little invention. However, this setup involves mounting an aluminum strip on the outside edge of the door opening, which comes within 1.5 inches of the outer edge of my traditional door knob. Frequently we would bump our knuckles when attempting to open the door from the outside, due to this small gap. It was quite annoying. I switched to this lever handle, which has a MUCH narrower shaft, and lacking a knob, it ends up being an inch or so narrower. That has made all the difference and we never mash our knuckles opening the door any more.

I already have this product, plus the deadbolt, on 2 of my doors, I love them! I've had one set on my outside backdoor for the past 5 years, and the finish is just now starting to show a little wear, on the key entry side. Having said that, the fact that this door is on the south side of my house and exposed to the elements 24/7, including the hot sun, for the finish to be slightly worn, tells me this is a wonderful product. Using the Smart key feature to "program" a single key to open all doors, is easy and awesome. No more carrying multiple keys around and wondering which key goes for which door/lock. I love all 3 of my Kwikset Lido Entry Levers featuring Smart Key. I am now spoiled and will not put any other lever/knob on my house.

I received the antique brass lever with a lock for my front door. Installation was simple following the provided instructions and the antique brass looks great.

I really like having a handle for those times when my hands are full, that way I can push down with my elbow and open the door. It got a little frustrating and I almost sent it back, even though I didn't want to, because the instructions were so lame. I needed to reverse the handle and the directions only gave part of the equation. Also, once the handle is reversed the keyhole is then upside down, which then requires you to purchase the tool to punch out the center and turn it over if you want your keyhole to be right. Once all that is done you can relax and enjoy your purchase. For the price, and the brand, I wouldn't expect to have to scroung around youtube for complete directions, but I did.

Nice sturdy lock. Reversible for left or right-hand doors. Adjustable setback latch. Simple to install with your phillips screwdriver and the Allen wrench provided with the lock. Use out of the box with the key provided or reset the lock pins to any Kwikset key you may already have. The lock can be reset to any Kwikset key anytime you feel need to. Just follow the directions provided. I replaced two 30-year-old locks of the house original set of four keyed alike and didn't have to add a key to my ring.

These are hard to find at the large chain stores. Love the finish and mechanism. Adds elegance to your doors.

Love the ability to program existing keys to work on Kwikset products. Concerned that finish will degrade over time but manufacturer stood behind other very similar products when the finish corroded (around 20 miles from seashore). Customer support is excellent! Product is sturdy and adaptable to existing door perforations.
