Cables do make a difference.. about a $20 difference.
this review IS NOT for the fanatic, if you have a quarter mil $ theater set-up in a sound proof room or the lastest cutting edge technology.this review IS for someone who invested decent money in a tv and or sound system. even mid to lower end 1080p consumer set-ups.Ok so no matter what people tell you THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between the $5 cheap all black no-name cables you can get on here and something like the mediabridge (or any other high speed cables in the range of $20) and, on the same note, there is a difference between that level and monster cables. i got these for $25 during a crazy special that lasted all of about 10 minutes.i have also purchased over the past 2 years:$5 the cheap cheap all black ones on amazon.com$12 the upper level 1.3 cables from [...]$18on sale mediabridge 1.3 high speed cat2 certified cablesim working with one of the first 46 inch sony bravia LCD 1080p tv's ($2600 new). very good picture not up to todays very high expectaions (refresh rate and contrast ratio is a little lower) but it still beats anything ive seen under $700 on todays market (5/16/2010). also have a nice sony reciever and a 5.1 surround (pretty good consumer set but not theatre quality by any means)the jump between the cheap cables and the cable from [...] was very significant. the picture and sound quality went up dramatically and the trailing that seemed to happen was significantly reduced. WORTH IT.the jump between those cables and the high speed media bridge completely eliminated the trailing, blacks were blacker and it began to appear more 3D. i dont mean its popping out but the lines are so much more crisp on the high speed that the picture pops. WORTH IT.the jump between the mediabridge and the monster... well lets just say it wasnt all that impressive.the cables are very very well made. the wire coating is some nylon or plastic weave which seems like it could take a hell of a beating. they say theres a bunch of things that make it exceedingly better but im not going to open the cable to check, i'll take their word. the picture and especially sound improved dramatically. that "3d'ing" that happened with the mediabridge became much more evident. no trailing, slightly more crisp colors. biggest improvement was the crispness inthe lines. it makes a pretty big difference.. but $200? not a chance. for $25 i think it was an outstanding deal, even for $40 or maybe $50 i would jump if you have a decent 1080 set-up and even moreso if you have a good sound system to go along with it (this goes double for people who mostly watch blu-ray because the cable that comes to your house limits the quality you can get out of hi-def). you WILL be able to see a difference compared to any cable ive ever seen in action. dont spend more than that on monster, the company does back there stuff up but you can buy 10 mediabridge high speed cables for the same price. ive also used this on the samsung blu-ray (bdp-4600) connected to the new samsung LED 1080 tv ($1400 last week double my refresh ratio 120hz and like 10,000:1 contrast ratio or something along those lines) and compared this to the mediabridge. pretty much identical results to my set-up. its better, by about $20 or $30. not by $180. save your money, put it towards better speakers, or better yet, the Logitech Squeezebox that is currently on sale for $150 and enjoy internet radio in your living room. if these are not on a big sale, they're NOT WORTH IT.the only thing that is really great about monster cables is that on certain products (this one included) they will replace the cable if your set-up surpasses its capabilities. when you spring for that 3d tv after they come down under 3 grand or get that 7.1 channel reciever you send them proof of purchase and your cable and they send you the cable that works perfectly for it. pretty cool deal on there part.bottom line: get the mediabridge or similar cable, spend $20 $30 or even $50 on a good deal on here and you will be more than satisfied. if you have been using cheap cables/non high speed/non cat2 cert. its almost like jumping from 720 to 1080. for $200? dont buy them.

A great buy if you can find it for the right price
This review is for the 8 foot cableI agree with most of the reviewers point of only a dumba$$ would pay obscene amounts of money for a HDMI cable that really doesn't make a lot of difference, that being said this is a great cable that does make some difference and if found at the right price is a must buy. I personally bought mine brand new from a seller in the Amazon marketplace for $19.90, how they afforded to sell it for that I do not know. It was labeled Refurbished and truthfully it may have been but when it arrived it was unopened in the original factory box and when I replaced the original cable I'd been given by Direct TV I noticed a difference immediately. Now I'm not sure what the grade or level of the cable direct TV gives out with there extreamly expensive HD DVR's is, but this cable definitely made a difference. I wouldn't recommend paying the $200 Amazon says the stores sell it for and I would recommend paying the $132.74 Amazon has it on sale for either, but the low low price of 19.90 I payed for mine I definitely recommend if you can fined it for that you buy. I gave this a 4 star rating due to the high price most places try to sell this for, it's not easy finding a Monster cable of this quality for cheap, It gave the Quality of the cable 5 stars but the price and value for your money both 3 due to the high price I've seen attached to this cable.

Monster Cable M1000 HDTV HDMI A/V Cable - 1.22m / 4 ft
Extraordinarily expensive when compared to generic "store brand" HDMI cables that may sell for a buck at 95% off or something. But in my case -getting this Monster cable it was very well worth it.After purchasing a top-of-the-line Samsung LCD HDTV, and a Denon Blu-Ray player, I originally connected the two together with a cheaply-bought HDMI cable. Very bad idea. While attempting to watch Blu-ray or DVD movies, the picture would occasionally snap, click, make funky digital-checker-board patterns, blank out briefly to white, or randomly lose the HDMI signal completely and tell me so on-screen.Upon further investigation, there seemed to be a fairly loose connector on the cheap HDMI cable where it plugged into the TV or Player - would easily pull out with very little pressure. Unplugging and re-plugging, and switching ends, and wriggling the ends seemed to help for a while, but inevitably the "loss of signal" events continued. Apparently HDMI cable connectors and jacks are not inherently particularly snug-fitting or robust, as compared to the older RCA Video Composite or Component jacks, or even the previous S-video cables.Anyway after not a few panic and anxiety attacks, and worries about much wasted money and time, and possibly having to return the HDTV and/or Blu-Ray Player (where is that receipt and warranty card!! was the online store a "factory authorized" seller??), I finally decided to try a better HDMI cable as the lower-cost solution. The Monster Cable M1000 HDMI Cable came promptly to the rescue. There was a very satisfying, snug, firmly robust fit into the HDTV and Blu-Ray player jacks. Resulted in a perfect picture and sound quality, with absolutely no disturbances, droputs, flashes, snaps, blanks, or "No Signal" messages. The difference in cable quality was amazing. This Monster cable is the best investment you can make in maximizing the performance and reliability of your new HDTV and Blu-Ray player. If you get an expensive HDTV and Player, don't skimp on the crucial HDMI Cable! The cheap ones are NOT RELIABLE, and if you get one of the defective ones like I did, you will not be happy.I had never before been a fan of anything from Monster Cable, due to the absurd pricing. Now - I would buy nothing but Monster Cables.

and they all worked great.
Returned it. Didn't work with Blu-ray player and caused blue dots on monitor screen as well. Might have been a defective one, because I had several of these in the past, and they all worked great.
