Arrived promptly
Product arrived promptly and appears as advertised. Unit was plugged in and appears to be working properly. Purchased one for the kitchen and one for near the furnace and water heater in the basement.

Short life or manufacturing defect, not sure which.
tl;dr - unit slowly drifts out of calibration over a year, so it starts giving false alarms making it (IMHO) something you cannot depend on. We purchased this about a year ago, after my MIL left the gas on once. I installed the unit but noticed it was showing a alert level of 1. Over the year that has slowly crept up to the point where it now alerts where there is no gas present(5) - that is, unless you rotate it 180degrees , which then drops down to (2) in the same location. So for some reason the orientation is *greatly* affecting the operation. I realize that gas detectors have a limited life - however that is usually on the order of 2-5 years. *The following is not a recommendation, just something I did to get some protection while I purchase a different (and hopefully more reliable) device. Being a geek I opened the thing up to make sure that it wasn't a case of trapped gas (it wasn't). What I found was a cheap adjustment potentiometer next to the gas sensor. I found I was able to tweak the reading back down to 1, and testing with a gas source (lighter) I verified normal operation again. This would seem to indicate there is drift in the analog detection circuitry. I don't know if it's the electronics (bad) or the sensor (much worse) - but any safety device that drifts out of tolerance like this without a calibration procedure should be considered defective.

This product has no known defects, but is not what I need, according to their instructions.
The ONLY reason I am returning this item is because it will not detect the type of gas that I needed (according to the instructions enclosed) it for. I have health issues, and need chemical detection device for my home. The product probably works fine, and the directions are awesome! The Seller seems to have taken great care to make the directions clear, easy to understand. I wish I could still use it, but will definitely buy from this Seller again in the future. Thanks to them for what is probably a great product! Amazon does not give enough options for returning this item, according to Amazon. I do not say a product is defective, etc, in order to return it. I hope you will consider changing your return policy to be more customer friendly, for those of us who do not make returns unless there are damages or other defects. Thank you.

Technical Support is Excellent
Techs sent a custom video to show me how to reset the detector as I had a #1 showing. Now it correctly shows a 0.

Perfect for loved ones
My grandmother lives alone and her sense of smell isn't what it used to be. A family member came over and noticed a gas smell, sure enough there was a gas leak. The piece of mind by adding this to her home to ensure she can keep living the way she wants at home is well worth the money.

Calibration is off; loud noise on startup
Pros: it worksCons: after about 6 months it started to show "1" and then "2" without any gas (tested with a handheld detector). Sensitivity seems low as well, compared to the other detector. At startup it makes a very loud beep and then some speech explaining its operation; 3 minutes later another beep and more speech - scares kids every time there is an electrical service interruption.

A dependable detector
I got the Y301 Techamor because it looked very easy to set up and monitor and had good reviews, it works very well just as advertised. I set it up in the basement to monitor my natural gas furnace. I put it in the hallway according to instructions, now I don't have to worry. Steve.

It's defective and we're all awake at 4 a.m.
Well now that we're all awake at 4 a.m., this detector is dead after just a couple days. It made a loud buzzing noise the first time it was plugged in, but we figured it was just random. Plugged it in again and it did it's starting sequence as it should and seemed to be fine. We had it installed for a few days when it alarmed briefly in the middle of the night, but then stopped. Screen showed a zero reading and that it was working, we then tried the test button and only a muffled noise came out. We unplugged and restarted it and the unit did not come back on at all.
