Brother MFC-J880DW All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Compact & Easy to Connect, Wireless, Automatic Duplex Printing, Amazon Dash Replenishment Ready

I owned a Brother MFC-490CW all-in-one for many years, and I used (and abused) it far beyond the amount of production that anyone should ever expect from a small home office inkjet printer. The few times I had to call customer service, everyone I worked with was great and very helpful. The machine printed as many as 700 pages a month for almost 8 years. When it finally gave out, I made the mistake of replacing it with an HP all-in-one that was on sale at Costco. What a disaster that turned out to be. Complicated setup, horrible customer service and complete machine failure in less than 30 days. I returned it and purchased this Brother machine at Amazon (on sale) in it's place. It's a move I should have initially done.This machine is a terrific upgrade in the MFC series. At a great price, it does everything an all-in-one should do perfectly. Built-in two sided printing is a bonus, and the machine is quiet and very efficient. For example, I'm really impressed with the quality of Fast Print/Draft printing considering the small amount of ink it uses. Setup was extremely easy, and right out of the box I found it ready to rightfully take the place of it's predecessor. I expect, based on my first month's use, that this machine will be everything I anticipate it to be. I downloaded the user manual and keep it on my desktop for reference, and in the few instances I've had to use it, I found it to be clear and straightforward.The basic fact is, this is a great, versatile machine for less than $100 ($95.00 when I purchased it). I expect a similar 8 year life that I got from the 490, and I will update this review if that turns out to not be the case.Update: After 5 months, the scanner function is not working well at all. Photos are all scanning darker than they should (much darker than the originals), and after many hours with chat and customer service, they decided to replace my machine with a refurbished one. I'm disappointed because I haven't used the scanning function that much, and now when I need it, it cannot accurately scan photos.

Completely satisfied with this printer. Having had a previous positive experience with a Brother laser printer (HL-2270DW) I chose this all-in-one Inkjet and was not disappointed. Setup was simple (Windows 10) and simplified by the LCD display that walked you through the steps. I chose the Ethernet connection to the wireless router, which worked perfectly. My ageing HP Laptop couldn't "find" the printer wirelessly, but the Brother's installation program offered an optional way of connecting by entering the IP address of the printer (control panel, printers & devices, properties) worked without a hitch. Connecting my mobile (Android) phone and tablet also went without a hitch, both found the printer wirelessly immediately and I was able to scan and print without a problem.The print quality (compared to the LaserJet printer) was more than satisfactory (laserjet print slightly darker and finer, but very difficult to distinguish from the inkjet). Photo printing was excellent with vivid colors and without any striping. Ink reservoirs are independent and can be replaced individually. Computer apps to fine-tune printing, scanning, faxing, copying and maintenance are intuitive and easy to use as is the LCD display on the machine. Online support (videos, links, etc.) is robust and followup emails from Brother with videos and suggestions are very helpful. I was amazed at the multiple functions packed into such a small package. The small footprint and overall size that deliver capabilities equivalent to printers twice the size and weight are impressive and appreciated.Several reviews have commented on the "flimsy" hinges at the back of the printer top that contains the automatic document feeder that must be raised to place documents to be scanned on the platen. These hinges are articulated in order to accomodate thick materials that occasionally need to be scanned and I suspect their "loosey-goosey design" will be appreciated when the need arises with unconventional materials.

I was happy with my printer for home use only so not a huge amount of printing.I bought it less than 4 yrs ago and stopped working from one day to the next!

Easy to connect, we use it for all types of needs be it pleasure or business.

save yourself the headache and the hassle of smashing a product you just bought 3 months ago because nobody will cover how useless it has become. it literally will not print and it spends its entire time cycling through a cleaning process. I will never purchase another brother product ever again, buy another printer. This one is complete garbage.
