Poor Quality Control
Advertised as "new". This is an old product of Radio Shack...long discontinued. Mine finally wore out and I thought I could replace it. Unfortunately, when I received the "new" recorder, I opened the battery compartment and found 4 badly corroded AA batteries. Apparantly, the vendor selling these was obtaining used recorders, possibly reconditioning them and re-selling them as new & charging the "new" price. The recorder was packed in its original box but sealed in saran wrap with a sticker titled "new". I could be wrong, but it seems that this recorder missed the reconditioning table and errantly ended up with those that had been reconditioned to be sold as new. I came to the conclusion there are no more "new" recorders anywhere of the same model since it has been out of production for many years...I checked all over and could not find any.

Missing Items...?
I was thinking this item would come with the cords to connect to the phone/wall....but it didn't. So, I have a tape recorder that I cannot use until I pay more money to buy the cords!

Does Exactly What I Bought It For
I've used these basic recorders for years to record calls made by employees and provide them with coaching and feedback. The recorder does a good job of recording and playing back at a decent volume. The voice sensitivity works well to save tape, allowing you to set the recorder to record only when someone is speaking. If you use this setting, be sure to have the volume on your phone turned up enough that the recorder can hear the person speaking. The counter is also a must when playing back calls for coaching purposes, as it allows you to listen and make a note of what counter numbers to stop at and play the recording for the employee to hear. This is the only thing I've used these recorders for, and they have always performed well in this function.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
This items is a piece of junk. The voice on playback sounds like minnie mouse, and you have to put your ear on the speaker to hear anything, and that is with the volume cranked up to max. Will never buy radio shack again. Disgusted.
