Great product
My first stropping block but I think it works great. Seems well made. I have used it on a couple dozen knives. I really like it.

The best strop on the market
Hands down, this is the best strop on the market. It's preloaded and works like a charm. I have been using it now for about a year, and it is still going strong. I haven't had to reload compound on it yet, and trust me, I use it a lot. All you need to do, is once in awhile, when it loads up, dab a little olive oil on a paper towel, and wipe it down. That will remove the built up metal residue from your knives, and it's back to working like new. I am highly impressed with this strop. I can't recommend it enough to anyone who uses and maintains their knives. I've owned quite a few strops over the years, and this one has out lasted and out performed all of them. It isn't even close, and the price is more than fair for what you're getting. I wish they made ones with different grades of compound, but the green is great for finishing off and refining your edge to perfect sharpness, or stropping back to sharp a knife that is still workable sharp, but has lost it's razor like sharpness. If you don't let your knives go completely dull, you can strop it back easily, and the less you have to put your knives on the stones, the longer you extend the life of the knife. If you use your knives a lot, then get one of these strops!

First time stropping, dull to hair shaving sharp in 30 minutes
This is my first strop, and first time using a strop. About 2 months ago I purchased a benchmade bugout which is s30v (some people will say green compound strips aren’t strong enough for s30v) that went with me everywhere and in 2 months became dull, wouldn’t slice paper, wouldn’t catch a fingernail at an angle. Before I tried sharpening or changing the factory edge i wanted to see if a strop could really make it like new. When the strop arrived I needed a good 30 Minutes to get the hang of the motions and the angles. After that the edge was starting to get sharper, it was a learning process a lot of the videos on this strop show the angle too shallow for me to get any results. Then I remembered a tip I had heard repeatedly, lay the blade flat and with light pressure push the blade into the strop giving it more angle slowly until it bites into the leather and that’s your angle. With this technique I was able to quickly get it to clean slicing paper and shaving hair easily, not hair popping yet but I am still learning the technique. Also don’t drag the blade off the strop after your motions, stop and lift the blade up.Overall very happy with the results, I’ve had it less then 24 hours and my benchmade is sharp, my other knives are still factory sharp so it’s only test has been my bugout. The results are great and no risk of messing up the blade or bevels like with sharpening.Would recommend to anyone that has quality blades and wants to maintain them well.Did take 11 days to get delivered, but I’m not upset about it

Quality Product, but Block Slips
I use this weekly to hone our kitchen knives. Well made and an excellent size for paring knives to large kitchen knives. My only issue was the block was slippery on our counter top. I cut a piece of rubber shelf liner material to size and glued it to the back.Issue solved.I would buy again.

Best Strop Ever
I've owned three strops for stropping wood chisels, plane irons and knives for several years now--this one is the best I've had. The quality of the leather I purchased in the past to make my own strops were no where near the quality of this one. Smooth but not hard or slick, soft but not too soft. Not too thin or thick either. Perfect if you want to keep your edges beyond just satisfactory.I doubted the use of olive oil and asked Knife Plus about it. I also asked about recharging the strop with my own green polishing compound. I will quote their response for you:"Thank you for your purchase and email. We get this question a lot and its been difficult to convince people to use olive oil. We have used it plenty of times with no ill effects. You should only use a very small amount so going rancid isn’t really a concern. We cannot explain why it works (we are simple knife guys) we just know it works. We do not recommend using any compound on our strops. The preloaded leather should work for many years to come. You can rejuvenate it when needed with the olive oil."Good luck and spend your money wisely. Semper Fi.

MDF is not my material of choice.
If I had paid attention to details when ordering this I would have noticed that the block to which the leather strop is attached is made out of MDF. MDF is notoriously useless when it comes to holding things in place with screws. Minimal forces will inevitably rip the screws from any place they have been attached to MDF. This is important to me because I intended to drill an 8mm hole through the length of the block, insert a 500mm hardened steel rod into the hole, and drill and tap two 1/4" set screws through the side of the block to hold the rod securely in place. I intended to use this set-up with a knife sharpening device I made which holds whatever I attach to it at a precise angle. I have used hardwood block strops to do this and they worked perfectly. I tapped the 1/4" holes for course machine screws and the threads are perfect. Tapping into MDF is like tapping into cardboard. Cardboard is just another name for MDF. The only reason ANYONE WOULD USE MDF FOR ANYTHING is to save money, or to cheat somebody else out of theirs. UPDATE: 8-22-2023- I was able to drill a clean, long 8mm hole through half the length of this block of MDF. The fit was tight enough that I did not have to worry about using set screws.
