Kinetic Sand Volcano Island Set

I bought this as a gift for a family friend and had the pleasure of watching them unwrap it and play with it. The 7 year old boy that I bought it for really enjoyed playing with it.The way that this is packaged is pretty ingenious: the box it comes in acts as both the play space and the storage box. It's great because it minimizes the amount of sand that ends up on your floor! The inside of the box is printed with a jungle-type scene (from what I can remember -- I last looked at it a while ago), so it's not just a plain, boring box to play in.The kit comes with 2 colors of sand, a plastic volcano, and 3 molds. This brand of kinetic sand doesn't have a weird smell like some others my kids have played with. The molds are easy for even small children to play with. The shapes don't hold together as well as play-doh or clay would, so kids have to be a little more gentle with the molded shapes. The sand is very soothing to play with and easy to clean up if it does get on the floor or carpet. It doesn't stick to clothes or carpeting. The only negative I have about the kit is that the sand mixes together too easily. Is it a big deal? No, of course not. But, once the kids start playing with it, the colors don't stay their original color very long -- it gets all mixed together. But, it still works great!I highly recommend these kits for your children. Fun, imaginative, relatively clean play.

Kids love Kinetic Sand. Easy to play with, easy to clean up. This kit comes in a box that doubles as a play area as well to keep things extra neat.

Bought this for a work project. The stock photo they use makes the sand look so full. In reality you get two i'd say .5lbs of each color of sand (probably less). Luckily i also purchased some of the black kinetic sand separately, so the overall look we originally desired was obtained. but I would definitely recommend purchasing more sand with this play set so kids have a bit more to play with. I know the idea is not to cover the bottom completely but I don't feel like there was a lot of sand to even play with if you had more than two kids. Also idk if it was just my box but it didnt include the gorilla shape thing. Not a big issue since i wasn't a fan of that one but something to be warned about in case you really wanted all three.Overall i still like the playlet but i do feel like the stock photo was VERY misleading on the amount of sand you receive.

We bought two play sets for our son's birthday. He raved about it because they played with it at his preschool. I have no complaints about the first set. However, this set in particular came with brown sand that did not hold its form. It was all over our hands and the table, almost like real sand. Hoping it was just a bad batch. Otherwise, he loves it and I personally think it's easier to clean than playdoh

We love this set. We did buy additional sand because you only get two small packs but it really doesn't dry out, and it is so easy to clean up.We also like how the box is a jungle theme so you can play with you sand right in the box. I would buy this product again.

Would not recommend this due to very small mold for the volcano and tiny packages of sand. The box picture makes it look like the volcano fills the area with sand left over to make the other molds, it does not! Cheaper to buy larger packages of sand and let your child sculpt a volcano free hand. Used once and the red sand blends right into the brown. Better options on the market.

Lots of fun. The kids like the feel of the sand and it has a soothing effect. Not messy.

Unfortunately this item did not meet expectations. The volcano is tiny and the connectors broke the 1st time it was used. It is marked 3+ so I would assume that it would hold up through at least the 1st usage. The sand is fun but not near enough to make it worth it for the cost.

Especially the red color makes it fun to play with as it could be lava.

This is such a fun product - adults as well as children will have hours of fun playing with it. The sand sort of sticks together without being messy or wet. It goes into the moulds provided easily and the result is a clear model of a tree, gorilla or volcano. I gave this to two of my grandchildren for Christmas - they both loved it and so did I.

Bought this for my grandson. He loved it. But since it separates easily, it can get all over the place easily...floor, table, clothes...lol...He did love it.

From my 6yo:There is no hole in the volcano, so the sand does not spout out from the middle - you can only place the sand on top

Bought as a gift. Well received by my nephew. Quite a lot of sand in the set compared to some others.
