ViewHD Advanced Full Size HDMI Powered Splitter Support 1080P & 3D | Model: VHD-3D1X4

Thought I'd post this since it seems a lot of people are trying to solve the same problem I am: I have a Denon receiver that does not support 3D pass-through but does use HDMI for audio (and non-3D video). The goal is to hook a 3D Blu-Ray player to the receiver for audio and to a 3D projector for video... by splitting the HDMI from the player.Sadly, even though you'll find descriptions that say all outputs get the exact same signal as the input, this is not true. What really happens is that the splitter negotiates with the attached devices receiving the signal and finds the lowest format supported by all and sends that signal to all devices. You cannot send a 3D signal to one device (projector) and a 2D signal to another (receiver).Although I wish someone made a splitter that did separate negotiation with each receiving device, I haven't found one.This device does send a good signal to every connected component - just wanted to fill in the detail a bit for those we care.

I'm using this splitter for below project, and it's working great!Details:I wanted to be able to share three HDMI devices between two rooms (bedroom and living room). I wanted to be able to view and control all three devices from both rooms.HDMI Device List:Tivo BoxComcast BoxDVD PlayerI was able to do this by purchasing all of the following items from Amazon:3 Each HDMI Splitters {ViewHD Advanced HDMI Splitter for 1080P & 3D (1x4, Full Size)}1 HDMI Switch {Fosmon HD1832 Intelligent 5x1 5-Port HDMI Switch/Switcher with IR Remote and AC Adapter Supports 3D}1 40' HDMI cable {Aurum Ultra Series - High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet - (40 FT)}1 IR Repeater {Samyo Infraed Remote Control Repeater IR Extender Hidden Control System Kit}2 50' IR extension cable {C&E 50 feet 3.5mm Male to Female}1 IR Receiver {BAFX Products® - Extra IR Receiver}For my setup, I only needed one HDMI switch, since my bedroom TV is able to receive and switch between three different HDMI inputs.I used one HDMI splitter for each device, and plugged each device to the input of it's associated splitter.One 50' cable {C&E 50 feet 3.5mm Male to Female} connected to the IR plug of the HDMI switch, and routed to the living room, and then plugged to the HDMI switch IR receiver.One output of each splitter went to one of the inputs of the HDMI switch.One output of each splitter went to one of the inputs of the bedroom TV.The output of the switch went to the 40' HDMI cable, which connected to the living room TV. (And yes, much to my surprise, the very inexpensive HDMI switch, is able to send the HDMI signal to a 40 feet HDMI cable!).Each device had an IR emitter cable tape to it, and connected to the Samyo repeater.One IR receiver connected to the Samyo repeater, and mounted on my bedroom TV.One 50' cable {C&E 50 feet 3.5mm Male to Female} connected to the Samyo IR Receiver #2 plug, and routed to the living room. In the living room, the extra IR receiver was connected to the extension cable.And that's it. With above setup, I was able to view and control any of the three devices from my living room or bedroom.I could use any device independently or simultaneously in each room.It wouldn't be that hard to add an additional room by just purchasing an additional HDMI switch, IR Receiver, and HDMI cable.Also a 4th and 5th device could easily be added by just getting additional HDMI splitters.FYI:I've also purchased three additional splitters for another setup where I'm sharing three different game devices.PlayStationXboxWiiFor this project, I'm also using three switches with 3 splitters.I have three children (IE 3 bedrooms), and each room is able to access the game device independently or simultaneously.The Wii is an old Wii, so I had to use an HDMI converter {Tmvel mini RCACVS 3 RCA Composite Video AV to HDMI Converter} to use it with the HDMI splitter.The splitters works great in this setup as well.

My solution was not normal because my media closet was located 80 ft away from my TV, so there was a 100ft HDMI cable between the splitter and the TV. The splitter was unable to carry the signal at that distance. So the device may have worked fine...it just didn't work for me.

I connected this unit to feed 3 LCD TV's to a Direct TV Feed and it works generally well- Though a brief or long power outage upon power restore (simultaneous with the other AC supplies) may cause the unit not to put out a signal. I simply removed power and plugged it back in and the signals came back. Minor but workable- Been in service 24/7 for the past 2 months and have no problems using  Mediabridge High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet (6 ft) - Ultra Series - Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return [Newest Standard ] and I use 35 foot lengths!

This review is for the VHD-3D1X4 1x4 HDMI splitter.I was looking for something to split signals to my TV, PC monitor and two capture devices. Why I chose this one, I don't know. The reviews seemed decent, so this is the one I landed on. Everything works great on the device. All of my signals come through just fine at the same time. There doesn't seem to be any video or audio lag being introduced. Everything plays back smooth and sharp as it should. The unit gets a little warm, which is to be expected, but does not get hot at all. It feels like it's built very solid, all of the lights on the front display light up very bright and the labeling is very clear and easy to read. The on/off button clicks in and out nicely and feels like it's of decent quality. For the price, I don't think you can beat this model. I'd highly recommend this unit.On a side note, for this particular model, Amazon shows a blue colored unit on the product page. The one I received is black. This isn't a big deal, but I guess, if someone really wanted it to be blue, they might be disappointed.

Splitter died after 18 months of use. Expected it to last longer. Would NOT buy again!

This item arrived on time and as advertised. Splitting HDMI signals appears to be tricky from what I have read and my own experience with other units that have not worked properly. This was the 3rd splitter I have tried (the other 1in/4out HDMI splitters tried: Mediabridge , J-Tech) and this one worked as advertised, spitting the signal from my Comcast cable box to 3 HDTVs. There was no loss in picture quality and haven't had any of the glitches I had with the other units. This one also was more reasonably priced and had the added bonus of an on-off switch, which the other two units did not have. The switch is obviously much better than having to pull the power cord to shut it off. Highly recommend (will change review if status changes.)
