These pliers do not use a ratcheting mechanism.

it is for plastic insulated connectors (NOT heat shrink connectors). If you are only doing heat shrink connectors get 97 52 37 as it has a more forgiving crimp (no raised crimp end) so it wont split the heat shrink.

Q: Are the dies interchangeable

The dies on these crimp pliers are not interchangeable. The Knipex 97 43 Crimp System series features interchangeable dies.
