Amazing bang for the buck!
Firefly has done a great job building affordable good quality guitars! Out of the box FFDCD guitar was very playable! I did some minor setup adjustments and switched to 9s and it plays great! Pickups have nice bite but are still pretty quiet, for p90s, when cranked up. Neck was a bit chunky for me, so I took it down to a 60s slim but it's not huge so many people may like it as is. It's stunning too! Love it!

Great Sound & Playability, in spite of less than perfect finish
I've been playing guitar for 40+ years and have owned some expensive and less expansive guitars. This Firefly FFDCD is probably one of the best playing affordable guitars I've owned. I've read several reviews and have watched many video reviews omn Firefly guitars, including this model. I've been pleasantly surprised by the extremely easy playability of this guitar and the great sound of the pickups, especially using both at the same time. The P90's produce a more "out of phase" type sound than I expected when used together. The fret work and neck are great and make this axe easy to play. The intonation was set perfectly and I only had to make a minor adjustment to the truss rod to allow a little bit of relief. This guitar is definitely a great deal for such a low price with free shipping! As expected with mass produced affordable guitars there are some minor finish flaws, but these don't affect the sound or playabilty at all. The fretboard is a little blotchy on the upper ends and there is a small nick out of it above the top fret. The gold sparkle finish also has some minor imperfections, including a few specks of dust under the clear finish. The paint & clear finish around the neck joint is less than perfect, as are a few other spots. But these things aren't a deal breaker to me since you'd have to look very closely to see these flaws. For the very low price I'd say this guitar is an excellent value. If I had it to do over again I'd probably order yellow instead of gold sparkle since gold sparkle is a hard finish to do perfectly, especially on an assembly line.Updated 3/23/20I can't put this guitar down! The neck is my favorite of the 5 electrics I own, including a very nice standard Fender Stratocaster. The pickups sounds great but the height adjustment is a little wacky. There are foam spacers under the pickups that address supposed to provide support, but these don't work well. Springs would work better. This guitar is great!Updated again 4/27/20This thing is blowing my mind even more! It sounds so dang good clean and it takes effects very well. It blows away the sound of my much more expensive Epiphone Wildkat with P90s in it also. I don't understand how this extremely low price guitar can look, feel and play so well. I'm just glad I got one!

Looks better in person than the
The guitar arrived flawless. Always wondering what I would receive after reading and viewing reviews of Firefly guitars, and already having three other models of Firefly, I was pleasantly surprised when the FFDCD arrived. I knew what it was supposed to look like from the photos but wow! It was beautiful, flawless, and needed no adjustments aside from tuning. After playing for about six hours, I slightly adjusted the bridge height to suit my preference. The pickups sound better than any other Firefly pickups. They put out a lot more sound in the resonant body while the total electrical system offers greater tone control. In fact, I have had to seriously alter the volume, tone, and pickup selection from where I would have them set on my other Firefly guitars, a FFTH and two FF338’s. Overall, it is better than I expected and is being used more than I anticipated.

Worth reading but in a nutshell, get it.
My 4th Firefly. First 2 were mediocre at best, the ffth and the ff338. The third was the fflp. It's superior in all ways to ones that cost several times the price. The prices keep creeping up on these and Amazon can't sell them so there is pricey shipping to pay too. Even so, still one of the biggest bargains available anywhere in a brand new guitar. Has to be tried to be believed! This time I got the ffdcd. Much cheaper and really just as good! Got it in a metallic gold finish which is also on the back of the neck and is flawless. It has a bit of body contouring on the front. The neck passes the nylons test! What's that you say? I invented it. It takes a very special job of finishing frets to be able to rub nylons on the sides of the neck and not have them snag. Plenty of guitars that cost in 4 figures flunk that test. Not only that, but, I have not had any guitar, ever, that just seemed to want my fingers on it from the 12th to the 20th fret like this does!! I'll use it on my next gig, no matter what it is. Worth noting, they are so inexpensive (as I would never say, cheap), that a lot of people use them as a platform to try mods. I love it stock. Unless I got a pick of the litter, which is almost impossible to determine, they are the single best value in a solid body, p90, Gibson style, brand new guitar that I am aware of. Suited for any player, beginner to pro.

Play-ability and workmanship very good
I ordered the gold one, and got a white one delivered. That turns out was Amazons mistake. not FF. so I won't fault them. The quality of the guitar is excellent. However, they made some changes on this model since the last time they were selling it. The changes are not good. they added the TOM bridge, which is a terrible design IMO, and they should have stuck with the single tailpiece. The neck paint is so thick that the neck is like playing baseball bat! Not good at all, compared to their FF338 model I bought earlier which has the best playing neck of any of my guitars!I stripped about 1/16" of paint and primer off the neck! The guitar is supposed to be like LP jr or a L standard DC, but its not and it is much heavier. The single coil pups don't have much sparkle to them. I will probably need to replace them.
