No directions provided! Did not last over 30 days.
This product appears to be intended for geeks who know all about this. It worked only after I removed the jumpers in the source hard drive based on advice from TomsHardware.com: For all 3.5” and 5.25” IDE drives – Make sure all IDE drives setas Master drive, use the 4 pins power connector plug directly ontothe drive. Afterward, power up the drives by connect the poweradapter to the power cord that plug onto the wall. This worked for a while but performance was not consistent and eventually stopped working entirey. J-Electronics would not accept a return. Total rip-off.

A Lifesaver after a Hard Disk Crash
After replacing a hard disk due to increasing errors and imminent failure, this interface was a lifesaver when it came to getting files off of the old hard disk that had been removed. It was easy to use, mounted the disk on the desktop (mac) as an external hard disk, and we were able to get those last few files that were more recent than the last backup. After noting that some people had power supply problems, we first plugged it in on its own, to make sure that it would not overheat or have other problems. Worked fine for us. It had been recommended by the tech guy at work, who uses one all the time to deal with various disk problems, but for the price (about 20 when we got it), I'm really glad to have my own interface at home.

pulling peoples dead/dying drives when the computer won't boot up and using it to backup their files is a great way to win over
This is a must have for any computer tech, pulling peoples dead/dying drives when the computer won't boot up and using it to backup their files is a great way to win over worried customers. Sure your computer won't boot anymore but I have all 10 years of little Johnny's childhood right here safe and sound.

very good invention! excellent product!
it is a little temperamental, but it worked just fine. really like it a lot because data transfer is such a big deal to me and this thing got the job done without any real problems. i still have it, but i probably wouldn't lend it to someone due to it's temperamental nature, but if you believe you are careful with gadgets i would definitely say you should try this thing out some time. being able to retrieve the data from a defunct machine without going through the hassle of rebuilding the machine like this is just great.

Simply Convenient
Bout this item in December after view a few and checking out reviews. In a review of another product a purchaser expressed his likely towards this and stated the benefits which after doing my own research proved to be exactly what i wanted. I have used the device a few times already and its very easy to setup and get going unlike others which have some many other parts that you have to connect for each situation. Device works as expected.

I use it for work
I work in computer repair and I use this adapter to recover data from drives that wont boot. It works well and since there are three different adapter heads it works on any standard hard drive. Sata, IDE and I forget the other one. cause I never use it.

recovered my data.
I got this cable to recover some pictures from a frozen hard drive, and this cable is great, now I'm using the hard drive as a storage device and I was able to get all my pictures, with a very simple connection to the usb port, and the back of the external hard drive.

Buy this one
My old PC crashed and I like most people did not back anything up. This item was so easy to use that I would have paid big money to do what I did for almost nothing (item cost). It took me a few minutes to pull out my old hard drive and even less time to connect this to my laptop and move all my data over to new pc. Buy this and save on time and money, I now use my old hard drive for extra storage because I have this device.
