Fits Lodge cast iron pans w/ short handles. Doesn't fit small Le Creuset cast iron skillet .
I recently purchased the small Le Creuset Cast Iron Signature Skillet (the one that measures 6.3 inches or 1/2 quart in size). I wanted a silicone handle cover for the skillet, rather than trying to use a pot holder with this pan. I also was hoping for the silicone handle cover to closely match the length of the actual handle and not be so long, that you may not get a good grip on the pan when picking it up. While Le Creuset does make silicone handle covers, they are all the longer length, and so I took my chance and ordered this silicone handle cover instead. While the length of this handle cover is perfect, and even the shape looks like it should be the perfect fit for that particular sized Le Creuset skillet, it does not fit, as when you go to slip it on the handle, it is not quite as wide as it looks. So I did end up having to purchase the long handled Le Creuset silicone cover instead anyway. The quality looks great and the grip too on this holder. If you owned the Lodge pan I would have no reservations about recommending it. I honestly am writing this review for the Le Creuset owner though who wants that smaller length silicone handle for their pan and sees this as an option, because it is not going to work for Le Creuset.

Great protection
Works really well to protect my hands and is easy to remove for cleaning. Has a good grip and fits well on 6" and 10" pans both.

Has its limits
Cast iron skillet handle still gets very hot. Use with caution

Fits Lodge 8-inch cast-iron skillet handle
This fits the handle of my 8-inch Lodge cast-iron skillet, and keeps it wonderfully cool to the touch while cooking at LOW heat. Once I get up to medium heat level, the heat comes through and a potholder is again needed. No more having to use clumsy potholders on the handle and risk singing them or burning your hand if the potholder slips. The price is a bit steep for what it is, but if you have the Lodge 8-inch skillet you should have this handle cover for safety and convenience. EDIT 1: Now I have burned my hand when the skillet has been on "medium-high" therefore I have to remind myself to use an additional potholder. EDIT 2: I found that the slightly larger Lodge handle holder for their 9" skillet fits right on top of this one ... coat the smaller one with Vaseline and push hard to get the larger one on over it. With a double-layer, I expect no more burns.

Works SO well
Bought this to go on my small cast iron pan. It works well to prevent burns. What a great idea.

Ought to be 2 inches longer.
It's fine, does what it's supposed to, but it's too short to allow a full grip on heavy pans. Also tends to slip if the handle is at all greasy.

Awesome price, quality product!
Perfect fit for the cast iron frying pan I just bought! Keeps the handle touchable can go from the stove to the oven to use in a fire! A definite need for a cast iron skillet a great value!

No need for an oven mitt.
Unlike the junk non-stick skillets cast iron handles tend to get pretty hot. This handle cover from Lodge works on my 6-1/2" skillet and on my bigger 10-1/4" I was using a small mitt to handle during and after cooking this for the price basically replaced my mitt. I think I'll probably get another one so I don't need to switch between skillets. It fits fairly snug on the handle so I don't worry about it sliding off.you can see from my video that after cooking with it I'm able to easily grab the handle without burning myself. If you have a Lodge skillet I'd certainly consider getting one of these.

Such a simple but great idea
Such a simple thing but such a world of difference if using a cast iron pan regularly.

Protège bien mais un peut trop large
La protection contre la chaleur est efficace. Malheureusement le manchon est un peu trop grand et rend la tenue du manche assez instable. C'est inconfortable avec une poêle lourde.

Transformed my use of Lodge Pan!
It gets warm but can handle the pan without oven gloves. Much safer. Recommend! Just wish it yould come with the pan so I didn;t have to go to the trouble of sourcing it separately
