Safely regulates and reduces the flash sync voltage of the flash or strobe unit. This is especially important for current automated SLRs or digital cameras when used with older flashes or lighting systems. The SMDV Hotshoe Safe Sync Adapter mounts directly to a camera's hot shoe and provides a hot shoe on top and a PC female flash connection on the side. You can have a flash connected to the hot shoe and a flash being triggered by the PC female connection.Compatible Cameras (including but not limited to): Fuji, Fujifilm FinePix X100, HS10, HS11, S200EXR, S205EXR, S100FS, IS Pro, IS-1, S5 Pro, S9100, S9600, S3 Pro, S2 Pro, S1 Pro **Note: The inner circuit of SM-512 prevents the high sync voltage of old flashes over 60V to work. So please kindly check the sync voltage of the flash that you have, and make sure it is not over 60 Volts. Flashes such as the Vivitar 100, 16m, 253, 255, Sunpak GX24, GX17, Auto 511, and many other Manufactures / Models.

Doesn't work over 60V flash trigger voltage
Some old flashguns have a voltage over 200V. It won't switch these.

Does not work as claimed
Trying to revive the usefulness of my vivitar 283 so I can use it with my digicams. The 283 never fired once, nor did a vivitar 16A. Works only with flashes with safe trigger voltages (285 hv, sunpak 622). Seems to block higher voltages only, will not trigger high voltage flashes as claimed. Keeping item however since it provides a PC port for using my 622 with my Finepix S1.
