Paul Revere & The Raiders - Hard 'n' Heavy (with marshmallow) & Indian Reservation [SACD Hybrid Multi-channel]

When I saw this this listed with other Paul Revere and the Raiders CDs, I was thinking, what is this and what is this label, Vocation? Four channel quadraphonic sound on an SACD, are they serious? Well I have these Raider albums already on cd but maybe this is an upgrade in 4 channel sound or maybe it is just a mess. I decided to take a chance. Well I'm glad I did. I have a theater in our family room where I can watch movies or play CDs. My speakers are in the ceiling, it's pretty cool. So the CD came two days ago and I put it on. WOW!!! What a incredible sound!! different sounds coming out of 4 different speakers plus the bass sounded great coming from my subwoofer that sits on the floor. It was rocking and rolling. I walked around the room standing underneath each speaker or in the middle so I could equally hear the music coming from 4 directions with such clarity. It turns out that Vocation has done many different artists and all kinds of music in 4 channel. They know what they are doing. These Hybrid CDs also play in regular stereo if you play them through a system that only has two speakers. This is one, if not the best sounding CDs, I have ever bought. If you already have these albums, get this one anyway. You will hear them like you have never heard them before.

Underrated and overlooked... Maybe on purpose... These guys are the absolute BEST!!! A real Rock Band, unlike many of that day!! Many of the treasures were in the songs that never "made it!! Maybe someday while Mark is still on this planet they will get the recognition they truly deserve! All of the goofball stuff aside, they were AWESOME!! Love the CD, good sound, even on a stereo set up. The Quad is only an added plus. Someday I will be able to enjoy this music on one!! But, Heavy for the stereo.... Enjoy. Takes forever getting here, but the sound & quality is worth it. Arrived totally intact, which is more than I can say for another seller on here!!

A bit of a Xmas present to myself. Glad I got it. A more rich and full sound overall. Very nice separation. Deeper bass without losing clarity. A true improvement over the Sundazed release.

Decent sound for an older recording. Quad version was well worth it.

If you are buying this cd hoping to hear the rare quad mixes of these albums, you will be very disappointed, unless you have an SACD player. If you play it back on a regular cd player, all you will hear is the stereo versions already available on cd's from Sundazed and Raven. It's not like the Quadraphonic records of the 70's that were playable on both stereo and quad systems. So if you're just looking for great sounding stereo, it's a good deal; but for the quad, look elsewhere.

Sonic beauties of two of their late great LPs. Was a real treat to hear my favorite, Hard N Heavy in pristine quality. Surprised no one else has commented on this great release. Hope to see other 2fers by Paul & The Raiders
