Excellent pruner and great value for money
Bought this to prune a couple of apple trees. The cutter works very well, the pole extends enough and I found it manageable - any further and it would probably be unmanageable. I found it very useful to be able to vary the position of the cord pull handle on the cord to suit the selected pole length. Not tried the saw attachment yet, but it looks up to the job. I would definitely recommend this pruner.

Almost Perfect
This does the job nicely - chopping branches (even those quite high) is simple task with the cord puller and slices neatly through some quite thick branches. The only drawback is the saw blade; this is quite flimsy and does not work if you're trying to cut mid-branch - it just wobbles from side to side which is the reason I didn't give it 5 stars. If, however, you cut close to the main trunk, it works OK - just make sure you are wearing eye protection and keep your mouth closed :D Otherwise, an excellent tool!

Tools you can trust. Really!
This is a top quality tool. You will not be disappointed. Exceeded all my expectations. I opted for the light weight carbon handled version. This was a good decision as a lot of the work was done with the handle fully extended. It "easily" cuts through branches above 1 inch in diameter and the very effective, very well made and super sharp saw attachment makes light work of anything bigger!!! Brilliant. Thank you Spear and Jackson!!!

Perfect for the job !!!
I've never used one of these before so didn't know what to expect. But straight out of the packaging it's ready to use and it's very self explanatory. Easy to extend pole which helped me reach high branches. The cutting ability of the pruner itself cuts like butter, I was really impressed. As long as you stay within the 30mm branch thickness limit you'll be fine although pruning thicker branches with the pole extended the pole does tend to bend a bit which you may need to keep an eye on but none the less it still worked. And as for the saw blade it's very easy to attach and I was cutting branches 4.5" thick with ease even with the pole extended by utilising the whole of the saw blade. I was really pleased with my purchase of Spear and Jackson telescopic pruner and I think it helped there was a demonstration video in the description. A really great product that did exactly what it was meant to do.

Effective
I have to say these pruners exceeded my expectations. They’re simple enough to use and not too heavy if you’re older (I’m 70). They’re nice and sharp and cut through pretty thick branches. The extension function is a bit tricky to get used to, sometimes the lock works straight away and other times it is more difficult to get it locked, however once it is locked in place it holds firm. On the whole though I think it was a good buy and as i’ll probably only use them three or four times a year I will put up with the tricky bits and the stiff neck after using them - looking up all the time. Just as an after thought, be careful of falling branches landing in you face and on your head!

Light and easy to use
It’s much lighter than the one I had previously and even as an older woman with arthritic shoulders I can use it in the extended position for quite a while before crumbling. I have a couple of issues - it’s simple to open and slide the extension and it’s supposed to lock by turning the other way. If you happen to rotate the whole thing - say to get better purchase on a difficult to reach branch - it unlocks and slides down. Also, the saw blade gets in the way, so I’ve removed it. My other gripe concerns the cord arrangement. You have to be very careful to keep the cord wide of the handle when positioning for a cut as it seems to magnetically attract itself to the cutting area! But I’m very happy with this product and amazed at the width of branches it can cut through. Would recommend.

Better than a strimmer
This shears gets really high and is very easy to use. Was able to trim trees at 4m from a ladder safely and without all the noise of a hedge cutter. The blades are wicked sharp, making light work of reasonable branches. Every garden should have one. Especially at the price paid.

Safe way to trim branches
Very sturdy and does the job. Managed to trim a few braches off the trees without the use of ladders. Would recommend.

WOW. SO AWESOME!
I have seen what others said about the plastic part that broke, but mine had astrong steel part there, so I'm guessing they improved it. There's NO way now! Anyway, I've tried to find a good tree trimmer for years, that can reach those high branches, and this one is great! It's fairly lightweight, and once you hook onto the branch you're cutting, the weight doesn't matter, the branch holds it. Then you pull the silky smooth rope/pulley device, so easy peasy, and the razor sharp blade cuts through 5/8" with total ease. The only thing to watch out for is that big neatly cut branch coming down fast! There were also people that said the locking mechanism for the pole extension comes loose while using, but for me, that happened once because I twisted the pole (which unlocks it) while it was hooked on a branch, totally my fault. I learned not to do that! Then no further problems. Also, make sure that your rope always stays in perfect alignment with the pulley at the top, if you accidentally get it on the other side of a limb or into the leaves, it can't pull smoothly. Really, though, unless this breaks early, I'm going to marry it! I'm now a 70 year old woman who can prune her maple tree with ease! LOVE IT!!!
