I purchased this older program for my Vista computer after I tried the Printshop 2.0 Deluxe for my new Windows laptop; based on the reviews I read and the Printshop 2.0 fell short in operation on my new Windows laptop. I have been a user of Printmaster for over 10 years and will use this program on my older Vista computer until Borderbund is able to get a working program for the new Windows operating system. I am able to be much more creative with Printmaster than I was with Printshop 2.0 and was greatly disappointed that the programmers at Borderbund could not even program Printshop to display properly in the new Windows operating system. The only real complaint I have with the Printmaster program is that the programmers at Borderbund are still unable to put out an updated dated version that will allow you to transfer over your current saved projects to the updated version; you must start all over. I wish I could give a score on the Printshop program due to fact that I thought it was an inferior program and should not be advertised as Windows ready. Also in comparison of the two programs I feel that Printmaster allows the user much more creativity than the Printshop program does. The Printshop program is ok for basic needs like cards that require little to no creative work. Printmaster allows the user to be much more creative in the text and pictures that are chosen for projects. The other down fall of Printmaster is now you have to sign up for some club online to get additional pictures; which I believe there is a charge, but I have not done this to date. All in all if you have an older version and are happy with it, stay with it or if you want to update your software go with the newest version for that older operating system. Beyond the Vista operating system I do not have a recommendation for you. A side note for Borderbund is that they do stand behind there product and when I was not able to get a refund for my opened Printshop from the retail store Borderbund did give me a full refund. I just needed to send the program back with a letter of explanation why I was not happy with their program and I received my check in less than a month.

PrintMaster 18
I originally had the software installed on my computer, but when my computer crashed, I had to reinstall Windows XP Professional. Originally, before the crash, I remember being told by tech support at Borland, I had to have SP3 installed. That procedure was easily accomplished, but my boot-up changed, when I installed the New copy of PrintMaster 18. It wasn't a major change, but it annoyed me that there was an alteration to the boot-up. I've used this package for several years, and keep updating the software when a new/later version is released. My only negative comment is that the software will not keep my new saved projects on its list. The older versions was able to do this procedure. I was told by Borland/Encore that I had to update the driver for my video. Unfortunately, my computer is 8 years old and I am not able to find a later driver for the video. All my other software packages are operating perfectly. So I am living with this minor distraction.

Not compatible with Windows 8
This almost didn't install with my Windows 8. I didn't realize it was an older version (small print in bottom corner says it works with Windows Vista), but I was able to bi-pass the incompatible issue that came up while installing and went in and used it anyway and it seems to be working fine. It's just not as updated as I thought it would be as far as the features and I can't access any of the graphics even with the disc in. Nothing in the description mentioned anything about what operating system it worked with so I just assumed it was an updated version.

A Great Powerful Program with Lots of Projects
If you just retired and basically have no life, interests, hobbies, friends, or plans you're in for one boring life. I was in the same boat, the extent of my reading was the TV guide, watching TV wondering what was for lunch. If you have an artistic bone in your body, a computer and printer. This program will keep you busy for hours learning how to use it. The learning part will take a bit of effort, well maybe a lot of effort and persistence. once you get a hang of it you can help out churches , clubs, organizations, friends, and businesses with creating posters, brochures, handouts, newsletters, and whatever art you can dream up. If you're in a situation where you are in a similar situation this might help. withe online support you can't go wrong.

Working GREAT so far!
I haven't used this software a lot yet, but it's what the last version WAS NOT!PM P18 actually prints the space of a half fold card instead of printing to one side like the other version.I personally desing all my cards in Photoshop, save as a jpeg, and copy the jpeg into PM. It does a great job of color and size mathching which, again, the version before did not.Try it out, you won't be sorry!!

Maybe
I bought this for my wife because she was very happy with a much older version which doesn't run on our new PCs. Right now, the jury is out. I will comment, though, on the fact that the 254 page User Guide has no index. So, if you like spending hours flipping through pages in hopes you'll find what you're looking for, this is the program for you. In the meantime, I wrote Broderbund for the web site from which I can download the guide for searching. No response yet.

This version purchased via Amazon cheaper and better than older version.
I had the older version of Printmaster and used it all the time. After getting a new computer,I decided to put in the latest version. It was a little confusing at first but after just a little practice, I found more flexibility and more choices. Even better was that the cost was much less than the older system. An excellent buy!

You get what you pay for
I used to have Greeting Card Factory which I really liked. My version didn't work on my new computer. I decided to switch just to get some new cards. Printmaster may have a lot of cards but it also has alot of misc catagories. It does not have alot of brithday cards at all. It is also hard to use. I couldn't figure out how to even change the text. It was under $15 so I guess you get what you pay for. I recommend spending the extra money and getting a better program. I learned my lesson and ordered the Hallmark Card Studio.
